I recently had the opportunity to test and review the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W Wireless scanner, which I received at no cost as part of a beta testing program. Upon receiving the scanner from FedEx, I wasted no time setting it up. The quick setup guide, available in multiple languages, made the process a breeze, with clear and simple instructions that anyone could easily follow. This thoughtful inclusion of multiple languages ensures that the setup process is convenient for a wider audience, making them feel catered to.

The installation app I downloaded took care of everything, from software installation and additional requirements to apps and product updates. The entire setup was smooth and trouble-free, and I was particularly impressed by its ease. The scanner is compatible with a wide range of operating systems, including Windows & MacOS, ensuring that it can be easily integrated into your existing setup.

Upon setting up the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W, I immediately put it to the test. The scanner's performance was nothing short of impressive. It effortlessly scanned business cards and documents, delivering clear and speedy results. The automatic dual-sided scanning feature was a standout, outperforming my previous scanners in terms of both speed and clarity.

One standout feature of the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W is its ability to analyze scanned receipts in-depth and automatically extract and save pertinent details such as vendor information, the bank card used, receipt total, and tip amount. The Invoice/Receipt Manager app organizes this information neatly into a digital ledger, allowing you to easily review and export the data to QuickBooks, Quicken, or TurboTax files. This feature has proven incredibly helpful for personal and business accounting needs.

One aspect of the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W that truly caught my attention was its compact size. Despite its small form factor, the scanner doesn't compromise on features. It's incredibly portable, allowing me to carry it with ease wherever I go. This combination of portability and functionality makes the scanner stand out in its category.

Perfect scanner for home office or small business - exactly what we needed.  Some of the features that sets this scanner apart and very suitable for daily use is - (1) receipt scanning and integration with popular expense management software (reduces so much manual work and errors) (2) multiple paper size support so that small receipts to A4 printouts can be scanned in one go (3) feeding tray that makes scanning a breeze (unlike flatbed scanners where we needed to load documents one by one)  and (4) duplex scanning - is a ultimate time saver for scanning two sided documents. Combined with paper tray, you can scan multiple page two sided documents in one go and do not have to go through merge operations like we had to with non-duplex capable scanners.
On the "non functional" side, the scanner is zippy! It is quite fast at 600dpi.  Another big convenience enhancer and time saver is its network capability where it sits on the network ready to scan.   The fact that, instead of some kind of proprietary protocol it seems to follow network scanning standards.  There are multiple advantages of this. First of all, I was able to setup using my iPhone instead of going through a full PC install and USB connector.  Once wifi is setup on the device, I was able to scan documents from my PC, iPhone, Android device and even my Chromebook!  For me, Chromebook compatibility was a pleasant surprise (photos attached). We have used scanners before that have a proprietary app and work on mobile devices, but this is the first scanner that simply was recognized and worked out of the box with a Chromebook that we use quite a bit.

Perfect scanner for small business or home office

This is a review for the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W Wireless scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
I've wanted for some time to have a dedicated scanner rather than using my all-in-one even though my all-in-one also has autofeed. Once I started using this scanner, I asked myself why I waited. There is no comparison between using the two.
Opening the box there was a small unit well packed and taped securely. A small, folded easy to read “Start Here” guide, along with the power supply and USB cable was all that was needed. The setup was similar to a printer, and intuitive. The unit was light weight and seemed to be well designed. 
I chose to connect by USB as I was positioning the scanner near my PC, but assume that a wireless setup would be as one might expect. Some buyers may have some difficulty connecting to a wireless network if they have never done this before as there are several steps involved. I downloaded the driver and additional software and it installed step by step, showing me progress along the way. I also separately downloaded and installed Kofax Power PDF. Presto Bizcard is also included so I will now scan those piles of cards I have accumulated over time. 
The scanner has two paper paths to accommodate different papers. I tested it with about 15 pages and the scanner ran through them very quickly, including BOTH sides of each page. My computer gave me a number of options as to what I could do with the scans, but what impressed me most was the speed.  
Finally, this scanner can extract relevant information from and categorize the data from all my receipts, a previously burdensome task. Receipt management software is included as part of Epson ScanSmart, and the information can be uploaded to Quickbooks, Quicken, or TurboTax. 
A great little unit that does so much.

Wish I Bought This Sooner!

This is a review for the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W Wireless scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

The Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W is a stellar addition to my office. It scans up to 30 pages per minute with a 20-page automatic document feeder that is able to accommodate stacks of receipts and documents of varying sizes. It is able to scan both sides of the paper at the same time saving me time.

The scanner delivers high-quality results with an optical resolution of up to 600 dpi and is able to handle a variety of media such as standard paper, cards, and passports using the flexible scan path. The scans are able to be saved to searchable PDFs or exported to external software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, TurboTax, or Excel.

Its compact design fits perfectly on my desk without taking up much space. Overall, the RR-400W is a top-notch scanner that boosts productivity. Highly recommended!

Fantastic scanner in a small space.

This is a review for the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W Wireless scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. I can say that even though I revived this product for free, I definitely have been missing out! 
This scanner not only handles the day to day office items and papers that I have to scan in from people who have signed off on documents but also it scan paper thin receipts and clearly visible. 
The fact that I can link it to my phone and have wireless documents sent there is great. Also, I linked my quickbooks account so that all my receipts can flow into there seamlessly. I have told my dad about this scanner and have even shown him how it works and he plans to buy one for his business as well! So again even though I received this as a free product, I would definitely buy it! Before I was just taking pictures with my phone and uploading them to my documents Or quickbooks, now it's so much easier!!

Perfect scanner for home office or small business

This is a review for the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W Wireless scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Upon receiving the scanner I was a bit skeptical due to its compact nature. I assumed this scanner was geared towards home use, or home office perhaps. But I will say I was pleasantly surprised! This little guy is quite speedy! I had no problem dumping piles and piles of documents into this thing. It took a bit to get set up and configured the way that I wanted, but it soon found a great home on the corner of my desk.

The included PDF software something I was not familiar with, having only used Adobe. But it was pretty easy to get used to and i've found myself replacing Acrobat on my phone as well. The scanner (and associated software) did lighting fast OCR and it did a great job at it. The one touch button on the scanner quickly opened the associated software on my computer and gives you many options for destinations (which you can customize and remove the ones you don't need). The Receipt manager software built in to Epson ScanSmart worked REALLY well, it OCR'd everything and was almost perfect. 

The business card scanner software however, was a bit of a let down. It really struggled to OCR many non standard formatted cards (many nowadays), it also struggled to get the fields correct of the ones that it did OCR. Fax vs phone lines, not knowing what to do with addresses, etc. Given it wasn't my intended use case, I wasn't too upset.

All in all, its pretty hard to beat given its size and retail price.

Lots of handy options (dust on glass detection, ultrasonic page overlap detection, etc)
Included PDF software works great and has pretty much everything Acrobat Pro does.

Cons
Setup was kind of clunky
Fought some issues with wifi setup on a mesh based systems, support recommended me not using a mesh network
Business card scanner software leaves a lot to be desired

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Instructions in the box require online invasive registration in order to access software needed for operation. It is not included. You also must accept all of their terms, conditions, cookies etc by using their website in order to get the software. Bought a printer from another company same thing. After downloading software, the pop up tries to get you to sign up for ink refills using your credit card. Bought a laptop, same thing. Pop up tricks you into giving your name and email first, then next pop up for monthly charges for  third party software to monitor all of your apps for updated drivers. It would appear big tech and big corporations are all selling electronics which require accounts, more information, and credit card numbers. I'm fed up with all of it. Don't buy products that won't operate without software included. I'm not signing up simply because I'll order ink when I need it, NOT based on the only options you have on the website for auto delivery. I hope congress changes all this crap. You can't buy a computer with operating system installed without creating a big tech account anymore. Oh and the robo calls - they all buy your information because the info tells them you have at least one valid credit card (not the numbers). Returning product to store. Maybe corporate will consider changing policies with all these invasive company techniques being implemented after the sale when you open the box and see what they are all doing. Enough is enough. Take it back.

After I registered my scanner I bought today, it says my warranty ran out 14 months BEFORE I bought it.  Hope nothing goes wrong.
