I was having some issues with dry, itchy skin, and my mare was rubbing her mane and tail. The reason was unknown, but I figured it was some type of skin irritation. The thing I love most about this product, is how versatile it is! I grabbed some because I saw that it could be used for a variety of issues, and it worked like a charm, without having to know the specific issue that you are treating! You apply some to the skin, rub it in, and that's it! No shampooing or rinsing necessary, which is lovely. I will say, it's a little bit messy, and comes out of the bottle quickly, so be prepared, but it does smell great!

So happy I bought this. My mare has 'cannon crud'. The greasy dirty, flaky skin on the front of her hind cannon bones. I have tried multiple different products with no improvement. I was resigned to just minimizing it as much as possible. I saw this product recommended by a vet, so I thought I'd try it. I balked at the price, but it is worth it. I applied once (without washing and drying legs first due to weather). I wasn't able to apply the next day, but was shocked on day 3 that it was 90% cleared up. Shocked. I haven't had results like this from anything. Literally 2 or 3 applications later and it is all cleared up. I'm blown away by how effective this was when I have tried so many other things. It does look a little greasy a couple hours after application, but brushes right off to beautiful results!

10 stars- great product

I have had terrible skin issues in the spring & summer with my Haflinger for the last 7 years.  I've spent a fortune on prescription drugs and over the counter meds to try to stop the itching - nothing worked!  He rubs the fur off the side of his neck, face, and sholders, then ends up pulling the hair off his main and tail.  His constant swiping his tail on his belly, breaks the skin open and causes more scratching.   I could not find a product that stopped the itching until I ordered the Equiderma.  Within 2 weeks the scratching has stopped, and most of the hair has grown back in.  He is like a new horse!  I highly reccomend this product to anyone who has skin issues with their horse!

AWESOME PRODUCT!

I am always somewhat skeptical regarding reviews, but this product had such good ratings that I thought I had to give it a try. Our horses were taking a beating ( or eating) from the bugs at the end of August, they were covered in bug bites. They were rubbing in their stalls to alleviate the itching and their skin on their chests had gotten all scratched up. Between the bites and the rubbing I felt I needed to try something to give them some relief. This stuff worked like a charm and quickly. I will keep this on hand always from now on. The reviews were “spot on.”

Great product

I have used this for a few years when needed for cannon crud.  I gave it to some friends to use on their horses for the same problem, and they couldn't believe how well it worked!  One time, leave it on and poof! No more problem.

One app- no cannon crud!

I was pretty skeptical - my pinto mare has photosensitivity issues, so I deal with bad scratches all over her canon bones on all four legs every summer!! I can't use MTG on her, and the cream-based remedies work great for clearing the scabs, but the skin underneath wasn't recovering. I used this on DRY LEGS once I had removed the scabs, and then covered her legs with mesh fly boots. WOW! Her legs are clearing up rapidly and the hair is growing back. Really impressed.

Worked surprisingly well!

It has been verified by a veterinarian I spoke with that some horses can be very sensitive to the active ingredient in this (chlorhexidine).  I had excellent results with it after washing it off the next day.  I was thrilled.  So the next time she got the crud, I just left it on my horse and had not washed it off.  Her skin literally died and peeled off under the treated areas.  So, then - not so thrilled.  I contacted the company but they never got back to me.  At least to write a disclaimer or a warning for the next person that uses this.  So, I don't recommend because they did not have a warning on their label.  Kind of like, it works, but be careful.

Skin Sensitivity

I ordered this product based on all the great reviews but was shockingly disappointed. My gelding gets pastern dermatitis on his hinds from stepping into his urine spot when he walks off, so thought I would give this lotion a try.  First of all it is not a lotion it's a liquid consisting of what appears to be 80% mineral oil 10% lotion and about 10% chlorhexidine beads.  Also the substances  constantly repel each other  so you are  shaking the bottle  and mixing it non-stop (see photo). The dirt sticks to it like a magnet and the product cakes off very quickly. I applied twice a day for 5 days with no improvement. Super disappointed,  had high hopes and at a high cost of $33 ($24 bottle plus $9.00 shipping ) ouch ?!

Waste of money, super disappointed!

Not as good as I hoped. My horse has been itching the dock of his tail daily. I wished this was gonna be the magic solution to stop this but good thing we did a night check at the barn. He was is distress over his tail. Had to wash an rinse the Equiderma off. Now I'm looking into what will sooth and fix his issue. Thanks, Kathy N.Y.
