I have owned an Excalibur dehydrator for many years. I like it so much that I ordered another for myself and one for a friend. I use it mostly for drying apples every year for a school fundraiser and my husband makes beef jerky!  Easy to operate, reliable and creates a great product. I highly recommend this appliance!

Dehydrate with no fuss or mess!

Works great. The trays are easy to take in and out, are easy to clean. It would have been nice to have controls nearer the front rather than the back, but I can see mechanically why they are placed at the rear. There is a bit of a learning curve to know how to dry different things and its been fun experimenting.
It would be nice if it had an automatic humidity sensor to turn it off upon completion.

Great dryer, works as advertised

I read all the reviews.  There were a lot of comments about how noisy the dehydrator was.  The noise was only about as disrupting as using a microwave.  The door only makes a noise if it's not put on properly.  Over all I really like this machine.  The time it took to dry my jerky was cut by more than half.   It was a lot easier to clean up than my old dehydrator too.  Plus, being square, it held more meat than my old traditional round one.

A great product

This is probably my 6th Excalibur.  Great product.  I have purchased cheaper makes and they are crap.  Stick with Excalibur.

Best dehydrator on the market

The unit works well and heats to a higher temperature than most.  It does make noise but I don't think that is unusual.  The trays are a bit flimsy but they clean well so that's good.  The only complaint we have is that the door is a tad  junky.  It doesn't have a hinge or any mechanism to hold it onto the unit.  It literally just  settles up against the opening.  If it had a clear glass door or even an attached metal door, it would be higher rated.  Definitely a good value and works great. We have done five kinds of fruit and several rounds of jerky and it all turned out perfectly.

Dehydrator review

This dryer dries faster than my old one!  I am happy with it's drying capacity. It does make quite a bit of noise, however, after doing some research it may be just a screw to tighten or loosen...let's hope!  It fits on my counter nicely and so far I have dried onions and parsley ( just got this 3 days ago). Onions took 3 hours and parsley took 2. I used wax paper on the screens so they didnt stick.  I love the temperature guage..so handy to use according to the foods to dry.

Love this Dehydrator!

I would recommend this dryer if you need to do a lot at one time. Tons of room. I did a bushel of sliced apples in five rounds. It is a little heavy. Being a 60 yr. old woman, I could not lift it  up over my head to put on a shelf, so I store it on the closet floor. Easy to use. Easy to clean. Arrived in an undamaged box, but the dryer looked like it had been through a war. The corner of the cabinet was cracked almost off and the racks were jammed into the unit in such a bind that I had a hard time getting them out. But with some glue and TLC, it works fine. Be aware that the racks need to be turned half way through the process to get uniform drying. All in all I'm glad so far that I got it.

Some good points and some bad.

I bought this a month ago and the machine rattles a lot when the middle trays are in place. Seems like when the trays are pushed all the way in, it pushes on the back screen which the fan seems to hit. I won't know if this will affect the performance and longevity of the motor/fan. Not the mention the possibility of micro metal fragments getting on food. I also notice trays 1 and 9 doesn't heat well so I have to rotate all the trays every hour for an even product. I like that it's made of plastic for easy of cleaning compared to similar machines on the market.

Good 9 tray dehydrator for the price

It is MUCH LOUDER than the model I bought 20 years ago.  The fan rattles instead of just a pleasant low hum.  I can't sit in the same room with it and do regular activities.  Haven't decided yet what to do with it.  When I use it, I have to take it outside which is super inconvenient.

Much louder than the older model

I honestly do not know if this machine is good or not. It arrived broken and Walmart has the WORST Customer service. They will not replace it, only refund. I bought this on sale as a Christmas gift, so if i return it and then repurchase it, it's $200 more out of my pocket. I womt be ordering anything else online at Walmart.
