Original model #655/659: Due to a faulty roof vent, water dripped down into my exhaust fan. This caused the fan (because of rust) to squeal like a banshee when first turned on. I tried for years to eliminate this problem. Sometimes it worked fine depending on the humidity level outside, but most of the time it was bad. Because the exhaust fan is no longer made I kind of gave up. Because of the rust I didn't see the one screw holding the fan in place. I went ahead and ordered this replace fan anyway. I finally noticed the screw that held the fan assembly in place. It took me seconds to install the new fan and it works great. It is so quiet I am not sure if it is running or not. Thanks Broan!

2004 Broan 679 bathroom fan started to scream at us with this continuous high-pitched squeal. I had to change the motor to fix. Motor replaced and issue fixed. It now runs like irs brand new
