[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, I am really happy with the Faber-Castell Drawing and Sketching art set. It says it's for ages 9+, which is a great age based on how this is more advanced than crayons and a coloring book! The kit comes with a 20-page booklet with step-by-step instructions on how to use various art techniques such as sketching, composition, textures, smudging, etc., 4 graphite pencils of varying lead hardness, 3 grip black ink pens of varying nib sizes, 24-page sketchbook, tracing paper and copy grid, pencil sharpener, eraser, and a zippered storage pouch. It's a great starter set! The quality is really nice and seems pretty sturdy. The pages in the sketchbook are a little thicker than typical paper, and we haven't had any problems with bleeding through to the next page. The eraser is a really generous size and works well with the graphite pencils. The pens are easy to use and work really well. The pencils are easy to sharpen with the pencil sharpener provided. The instruction booklet is pretty easy to follow along with and is really great at showing various drawing techniques! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice quality, starter art set for doing more advanced artistic drawings.

My daughters love it

It came with everything you need, and the pouch was perfect for storing all my new supplies. I also like the booklet, which was helpful and detailed, but easy to follow. My niece has recently gotten into drawing so when she came over, I let her try it out. She loved it and guess who has to buy her one for her Christmas present. Overall great product!

Awesome Starter Kit!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great starter kit for arts and drawing. I do think it is more for teens and older people. Even if you cant draw for anything you can use this kit and suddenly its become easy to draw like a pro. Wish i knew about this sooner. I recommend. I like how it gives you pencils and erasers. its a nice set and basically all you really need. i also like how it shows you how to shade to make things appear more real. I love it.

She immediately opened it and started to read the instruction booklet. It was the first formal drawing lessons she has ever had and is really excited to be able to execute the sample drawings.

Great art set for beginners

Having taken drawing classes years ago, I was excited to share this set with my artistic child. The booklet of drawing techniques is a great how-to resource for someone to learn techniques. The selection of graphite pencils and felt pens is great for shading and drawing using the techniques. All in all - a great comprehensive kit to get a kid exploring drawing and learning technique. Comes with pouch, good quality eraser and sharpener so you have everything you need to get creative. It is a bit of an advanced level, so for a younger kid, they will need an adult to work with them, but still accessible for a kid who wants to learn.

Very cool art set with great how to's

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The faber Castell set is a great set for someone who has taken up drawing and sketching and is still expanding their art. It has all you need to get a good start. It comes with 4 Goldfaber Graphite Pencils: 6B, 2B, HB, 2H 3 Black Pens: Brush, Bullet and Fine tip. it also has a nice plastic zippered Storage Pouch. Those are all quality Faber Castell art tools. 
With the pens and pencils you will also get a a 20-page 6"x 8" Spiral Bound Sketchbook. There are a few colored sheets, some tracing paper and several white sketch pages. To help with your designing and pencils you also get a Plastic Copy Grid, 1 Eraser and 1 Sharpener. 
It brags about a nice step by step guide to teach drawing and although I would say its actually a very simple little booklet it does teach some needed skills for sketching nice pieces of art. 
I was able to follow the instructions and quickly sketch a nice flower sketch. Its definitely a great little set and small enough to take anywhere. I suggest it for any one who wants all the tools they need in a handy size portable kit.

great set for nonprofessional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loves using this Do Art Drawing and Sketching by Faber Castell! He spends so much time practicing drawing now instead of in front of the TV. We live in the south and with the humidity I wanted something fun and interesting to do indoors and this was a hit for him! He has learned to draw much better!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter goes to a school for performing arts. Her drawing skills amazes me (I can only draw stick figures). She wanted to expand her skills and learn how to shade. Faber - Castell comes with an instruction book. This instruction book goes into great detail for accomplishing your desired goal. It explains creating shadows, composition, using a grid (provided), & what pencils (they are numbered) to use for particular shades. The manual even explains how to properly hold a pencil, and how holding the pencil various ways produces different results. (I would have never thought of that) The set includes an instruction manual, sketchbook, a grid, pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener, grid markers, and a convenient pouch. My daughter is enjoying the set ... It is teaching her the skills she needs to expand her drawings.

Great for learner's

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's been a long time since I've sketched or drawn anything. It's nice that it came with the 20 page illustrated instruction book. It made it easy to remember what my art teachers had taught me in school. It comes with a pencil sharpener and eraser. The plastic zipper storage pouch broke first time I used it but was able to easily put the plastic zipper part back on. I'm having fun again drawing with this set.
