We have very cold winters here. And we like to be sure all our critters are comfy & warm. This heater placed under their bed pad works great to that end. My older,arthritic dog feels better, our new pup is warm & toasty & our year old dog is quite happy with it as well! The thermastat helps save energy too.

I needed a way to heat the dog in the dog house. This unit fits nicely on the floor so the dog doen't think it's something to chew on, becuase she thinks it's part of the floor. It would be a stretch to call the cord unchewable or chew resistant. My cord was not wrapped in metal, it was just platic moulding. However, that does add one more layer to chew through. I taped the cord down with metal duct type as well as taping the pad down where it won't shift and lose it's floor disguise. Anyway my dog is plenty warm on only 100W.

Perfect for my old dog.

By far better than other brands its heavy duty and about 1" thick instead of 1/4" like others. Stays flat and heats up great and couldn't see any difference in our electric bill.

This is the second one and bought the medium size and its plenty good. Built a cat house out of 2" foam insulation board with just a small open door in the front of house then lined it with bubble Mylar that reflects the heat back at our kitty and the house stays nice and warm with this heated mat.

Now going to make another for our other outdoor cat which has a heated mat but not an insulated house. It makes a big difference using the foam board and Mylar and holds the heat really well.

Best Heated Pet Mat Pad on the Market

We are extremely pleased with the heated pet mat. It is perfect for keeping our dog warm. For some time, we have been looking for a product of this type, and we were thrilled when we finally found it on-line at Walmart. It is exactly what we wanted!!

This was exactly what I needed. I have several friendly stray cats I take care of and wanted them to be warmer this winter. They love this. I don't even have this in a dog house for them yet (as the one I ordered to go with it was the wrong size) I simply have this plugged in and they sleep right on top of it. They are used to sleeping outside on hard surfaces or the ground so this is nothing new to them. I got them used to it by placing their food bowl on it and once they realized it was warm they loved it. It has been rained on (not the cord) a few times and is still doing fine.

This is not for indoor cats unless you have a cat that likes hard surfaces. This company makes several soft ones for indoor use that are also great & work better for pets used to a soft bed (I have those as well and the cat's enjoy them.

Exactly what I needed

Using this in a dog house for stray outdoor cats. The product works great. Maybe I missed it in the product description but I thought the mat would be flexible and not hard plastic. Luckily, I was able to fit it into the opening of the house! Warm kitties = happy me!

placed mat inside a wood cat house we made for our outside cat that someone dropped off a yr ago.felt so bad last winter for him,blankets just weren't enough. this mat keeps his body temp warm! he loves it.big enough for cat to spread out on and our cat is large in size.

worth the money

I purchased 2 of these for my cats for this winter. They love them. The fall has already had a few nights that have dipped down into the high 20's and every night I find both of them sitting on their warm pads. The female spends most of the day on it as well. I haven't received my electric bill for the month yet, but since they are low wattage, I don't expect it to be much higher than normal for this time of year. The soft covers are nice as well and so far seem to be staying in place. I would recommend these to anyone who has an outdoor cat.

The cats LOVE it!!

I didn't realize at the time of purchase that you have to put it on concrete or wood floor and are not suppose to have any other blankets on it "or it will not work like it is suppose to" as it states on the information sheet. My dog will not lay on it, she likes to cuddle with blankets, so she lays beside it in her dog house instead, so I'm not sure if it is even providing her any heat at all that way. I would have just gotten a heated dog pad to put under her blankets if I knew this ahead of time. She also wont lay on it by itself if I just put it on the floor.

Works like it is suppose to.

I bought this to put in the large dog house I use for my rescue cats. It fit perfectly on the floor of the house (the house sits on a 5'+ tall perch with ladder to keep coyotes and pesky critters out) and the cats seem to love it. I put my hand in there and it seems to be working just fine.

I don't like that you aren't supposed to put anything on top of it as it's not comfortable even with their little added "pad". It also had a corner broken off when I opened the box but not so much that it affected the functionality. If I had bought it at the store and could easily exchange in one trip I would have but I didn't want to have to return it and wait for a new one as it was getting colder and colder at night and 6 cats in a mudroom with one litterbox makes for a fun cleanup the next morning.

Anyway, I feel like it's a safe alternative to heat lights (which I was considering) and they all pile in there and sleep like babies so I'm happy as long as it keeps working.
