I bought this based on some positive reviews. Alas, when I compare what I received with what I note in photographs shared in reviews, the strings that link the shapes to the cube I received are so short that as an adult I can barely position the shapes to push into the matching depressed sides. 
I am going to reassemble the box (which I tore open in excitement) and try to return this toy. 
I would not chance to frustrate a young toddler with this toy. 
Such a fabulous concept but unfortunately this item is perhaps defective in construction.

Wish I received what I noted in the photographs.
