Well, Kekoa turned out to be just as fabulous as I'd hoped after reading Lights Out, Natalie Walters' first book in the SNAP Agency series.  Between his muscle bound, tattooed Hawaiin physic and his tender, filled-with-pain-from-the-past heart.  He was perfect!  If for no other reason than Kekoa, I highly recommend this story.  BUT, he's not the only enjoyable thing in this book.  The SNAP Agency is super interesting, the dynamics between the team is super complex, yet oh so enjoyable, and I learned so much about how Agency's like these function.  I appreciated and enjoyed this book from beginning to end!

The Perfect Hero

Fatal Code by Natalie Walters is the Second book in her SNAP Agency series. Elinor Mitchell finds some hidden codes in her grandfather's journals. Now her life is in danger because someone wants them. Kekoa Young, a former Navy cryptologist and a SNAP agent, steps in to try to protect Elinor and solve the mysterious code. The suspense was pretty intense. The only thing that I didn't like was all the Hawaiian slang thrown in throughout the story. Elinor was the perfect balance for Kekoa.  They complemented each other so well. I enjoyed learning more about the SNAP team.

Great Suspense

Natalie Walter's second book in the SNAP Agency series, Fatal Code is a fast paced, page turner that kept me reading.  I loved the intricate story that she wove as we get to know more of the SNAP Agency team more intimately.  I have to admit, although I am already a fan of Natalie Walters' books, I was very excited to see one of the main characters be of partially Asian descent.  It was also a treat to get to know Kekoa and the 808 culture through his conversations with ohana, his ubiquitous slippers and of course, the ono food, especially the Spam Musubi!  Fatal Code had a an intricate plot that brought me to unexpected places and I was drawn in from the first page!
“Look at the birds of the air, my sweet Ellie, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?” Your heavenly Father has His eye on you, my little sparrow.”
	The Scripture washed over her with the kind of reassurance she'd longed for, the kind she didn't always receive from her parents but was always readily offered by Gramps.  Oh how she missed him.  (Fatal Code)  I loved this quote from the book reminding Elinor of the truth of scripture from her childhood.  Although a work of fiction, scenes like this one, remind the reader of the impact scripture and encouragement have on us.  The impact Elinor's grandfather had in her life was profound and lasting.  I loved how Natalie did this throughout the book as she told us more of Kekoa and Elinor's stories.
	Elinor Mitchell is still mourning her grandfather.  Like her scientist grandfather, Elinor has also embraced her scientific mind and works as an aerospace engineer.  As brilliant as she is beautiful, she and her team are working on a project that will be soon unveiled.  In the midst of her own work, Elinor begins looking more closely at the notebooks her grandfather left behind. What she doesn't realize is others want what her grandfather left her and they will do whatever it takes to get it.
	Kekoa Young is the SNAP Agency's resident computer genius and formerly a Navy cryptologist.  He finds himself assigned with the job of monitoring Elinor Mitchell to determine if she is being deceptive and disloyal to her company and country.  
	This was a wonderful installation in the SNAP Agency series and I'm anxiously looking forward to the third book!

Fast paced story line, great characters

'God, if You're there, I could use a win tonight.'

When I read Natalie Walters's first book, I knew right then I wanted to follow her.  Her work has only gotten better!  Seriously.  I love this new series featuring the SNAP agency.  Walters has populated the group with really wonderful characters from the very beginning and leaves the reader wanting to read all each of their stories.  When I first met Kekoa Young in the first book, I was just so excited to read his story and it did not disappoint.  

Tasked with a seemingly impossible quest, the SNAP agency must up their game this time, as Kekoa is asked to keep an eye on his neighbor, Elinor Mitchell, who is in possession of super sensitive information.  But Kekoa likes her and refuses to believe she is the enemy.  

Walters ramps up the suspense to a frightening degree here with a plot that is both intriguing and thrilling, racing toward a powerful conclusion, as well as delves into the deep emotional hurts of her characters as they struggle to do the right thing.  I was in from the very  first page and I love when that happens.  Well done!

Great Addition to Series!

A secret hidden for decades, nuclear and space technology, shadowy villains who may be foreign spies, mysterious codes and ciphers, betrayal, and an old book...What more could you ask for in a romantic suspense novel? Well, that pretty much covers most of the genre doesn't it? Fatal Code is the second book in Natalie Walters' current SNAP Agency series and I think it may have been just the teensiest bit better than its predecessor...

There was a lot going on in Fatal Code, the danger and intrigue never let up for a moment and readers hardly have time to catch their breath before Natalie Walters plunges her characters even further into murder and mayhem. This second SNAP Agency novel had plenty of opportunities to guess, second guess, and second guess your second guesses. I really enjoyed trying to puzzle out who was doing what, why they were doing it, and what exactly they were after...

As if the already high stakes weren't bad enough both Kekoa and Elinor also come with a lot of emotional baggage. Trauma and events from the past all seem to come to a head at the worst possible time for them, but, maybe, they will come out of it all stronger together....if they survive at all...

If you love edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense with a healthy dash of Hawaiian culture this is the book for you! Don't miss Fatal Code or any of The SNAP Agency novels from Natalie  Walters....

The past and the present on a collision course...

I am absolutely in love with the SNAP AGENCY series and could not wait to get my hands on this newest one. I was not at all disappointed as it is the best one so far. Telling the story of Kekoa, the gentle computer giant from Hawaii, was brilliant as he is a favorite character with a mystery in his past. I have wanted to know more about Kekoa since book one and this book definitely satisfied my thirst for knowledge about his background. In the latest story, Kekoa is tasked with finding out who is selling secrets from a lab and his discovery actually upsets him. His neighbor, the quiet and unassuming Elinor, appears to be the culprit and Kekoa is overwhelmed with dismay because he is attracted to her. I was also dismayed because I liked Elinor a lot and wanted her and Kekoa to get together. There is a lot of technical information in this book that I can't say that I really understood, about pigpen codes and algorithms that are dangerous to the person with the skill to decode them. The characters were very well-developed, with a lot of information about Kekoa's roots and family back in Hawaii as well as Elinor's beloved grandfather who recently died. There were also some really humorous parts like when Kekoa and Elinor went out in the rain and slid down a grassy hill on boogie boards. Cheehoo! The entire regular cast of the Snap Agency is present, with Walsh taking more of a leading role in this book and Lyla and Garcia still teasing a romantic interlude between them. The plot is fast-paced and intense, with the security of the U.S. at stake and the team plus the FBI working together to find out what is happening and why. I must admit that I was fooled all the way until the reveal about who the villains were. One person I did guess, but not the real motive, so there were lots of great revelations for me at the end. I loved Kekoa's story and look forward to the next Snap Agency book already. This team is like NCIS, only so much smarter and better!

Intense Mystery and Intrigue with Romance Too.

Kekoa Young, whose name means: The Brave One, feels anything but brave since his brother died in a surfing accident. After all, he is just a cryptologist, a computer nerd and does not feel qualified to protect anyone. But when he meets Elinor, his protective instincts go into high gear. 
This is another- hold on to your seats- thrilling adventure about the SNAP Agency. Even though I know very little about codes, the author brought them to life and made them an integral part of the story. I learned a lot about this unit of colleagues and friends who work in Washington DC. 
The many layers made it hard to discover the bad guys behind the scenes. Someone was trying to steal the notebooks that were all that was left from the grandfather Elinor loved. Among the excitement and danger, Ms. Walters inserts humor, romance and shows us how the characters rely on God. Elinor holds on to the song: His Eye Is On The Sparrow. Sparrow was a nickname given to her by her grandfather, so she frequently recalls that God is watching over her. 
I really enjoy Ms. Walters' writing and will anxiously await the next book.

SNAP Agency  Suspense

Cheehooo! Hawaiian word that expresses excitement! That's how I felt when I read this book! Well, many other feelings as well: excitement, intrigue, heartache, LOVE, tenderness, lots of emotions. And I think I felt so many things because the characters made me fall in love with them and made me ache with their loss, self-doubt and unworthiness, and the need of family bonds. They both had similar struggles with discovering their true worth, due to past issues that weren't their fault, but they affected them deeply.
The plot is edge of your seat intriguing! Truly amazing! It surpassed my expectations, which were already high after the first book. The best thing of it all were the characters. Kekoa was so lovable, so loyal, protective, funny, light hearted. Yet very vulnerable. He loves with passion, and he's afraid to love because of his fear of loss. My heart ached for the misplaced guilt he carried for his brother's death. This part of the story even made me cry at the end, the way he finds redemption and gets his family back. Elinor also needed healing. Had erected a wall around her heart. The rejection of her parents, their absence in her life had inflicted a deep wound in her heart, making her feel insecure about her worthiness. Other than her grandfather, in Kekoa, she finds that lost security, of being someone valuable, cherished. And I love how they both discover that ultimately, it is God who loves us the most and in a totally unconditional way. I loved Kekoa's Hawaiian expressions, it made the book so fun and authentic. Even if the author didn't translate most of the Hawaiian words, it's easy to know what they mean because of the context. I also laughed out loud at Elinor's science nerdy jokes, or her nerdy t-shirts. It was so endearing! The romance was so sweet and tender, I loved how Kekoa respected her and admired her. It was torture for him to have to spy on her, when he was sure she was innocent.
The plot was riveting. The villains were awful, and it keeps you guessing until the end to who is the criminal and culprit. It had unexpected twists, and I had more than one surprise at the end! It's a completely unputdownable book!
And best of all -or worst, since it's going to be a long wait for the next book next year-, is the team loyalty and support. I love their bonds, their teasing, everything. So, I can't wait for Nicolás and Lyla's story!! I'm sure it's going to be awesome too. You can get a sneak peek chapter at the end to get you picqued!

I highly recommend this story! A must read!

Unputdownable Suspense with Amazing Characters!

It probably seems odd to describe what is supposed to be a suspense book as fun, but that is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about this book. Kekoa makes everything fun. I really enjoyed the fun-loving Hawaiian and all the little Hawaiian tidbits tucked throughout the pages. Natalie did a great job using the slang and then "interpreting" it in a subtle way that fits seamlessly into the story.

There were some pretty serious parts too. Kekoa is carrying around a past weight and Elinor has abandonment issues and these things definitely impact the story. I have to wonder how some of the revelations would affect Elinor's trust issues.

I liked having Lyla and Garcia fairly involved in the "case". They were around and helping Kekoa out quite a bit. They're super fun, too.

Funny Suspense

At first I thought this book was going to be a difficult one to finish. There is a Hawaiian character which led the author to use the word brah, slang for brother, thirty-eight times. Annoying, the repetition, not the character. There were also references to a popular television show that some, perhaps many, readers of Christian fiction would likely opt not to watch due to its content, thus the references lack any positive impact. It also made me wonder about the author's choice to basically promote the show. However, since the plot was interesting and well played, I did finish the book. It involved espionage, murder, and cyber-security, so the author hadn't gone completely wrong.
