When I was a kid, Fels Naptha was something you used in the bathtub when you had poison ivy. It still has a waxy feel and tan color and it's larger than most soap bars. Not a wimpy bar that winds up as a sliver. It is a great at removing tough stains when hand washing laundry. the formula may have changed over the years but there is still kind of a clean scent. (I wouldn't say it's a "fresh" scent.)

Great Laundry Scrub

This is one of three ingredients that I use in making a 5G bucket of DIY laundry detergent.  20 Mules Borax and Arm %26 Hammer Washing Powder are the other two.  See Mrs Happy Homemaker recipe online.  For around $10, I make a 5G bucket of detergent with plenty of the two powders left over for future batches.

Fels Naptha soap is a fantastic value.  Rub the soap onto a stain on any fabric.  or mix it with other ingredients.  I use it as an ingredient for homemade laundry soap.  I shred it with a cheese grater, add the grated soap to one box of 20 Mule Team Borax.  Add to this mixture a box of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda, mix well.  I use 1 to 2 tablespoons per load of laundry.  Cleans and brightens clothes.  No other laundry soap is needed.

This unassuming bar of soap is incredibly effective at getting stains out of clothing/fabric. From stubborn red clay dirt to underarm stains and more, Fels Naptha with a scrub brush, a little hot water and some elbow grease gets the stain out! It also smells good.

Best stain remover for laundry

I didn't hate much it just requires a lot of effort, but its worth it. Every stain gone!!! I really benefited from this item, well worth it. The removal power level is almost definite in my opinion now after using it.

It worked well for me.

I use this as a pretreater for all kinds of different fabrics.  To keep it hygienic, I use a knife to cut a small piece of the soap off.  This method also keeps the entire bar from getting wet.  You can also make your own laundry detergent out of this soap.

I can't do laundry without this stuff! it is absolutely amazing at getting EVERY stain out! I use two ways one, in my homemade laundry soap ( one bar fels-naptha, one bar white zote, washing soda and borax, 2 cups each) and I always have a chunk of a bar for rubbing directly on stubborn stains. Total game changer especially with kids!

My Mother used fels naptha in every load. She'd just grate a little off the bar and it makes a fantastic laundry booster. She also scrubbed us with it after playing outdoors because it removes the oils from poison oak or ivy before you have a chance to. have a reaction! Great stuff. I'm glad it is still available after all these years!

Timeless household helper!

This product works amazing, I  prefer to grind it into shavings and add it to my detergent, I also use it on stains prior to placing into the washing machine.  

It works on all types of fabrics, it's perfect for all the stains my kids get on their clothes.  The dirt seems to come out without issue and it does wonders on grease and oil stains.  

As far as the ingredients are concerned, I have not had any issue with wearing my clothes as far as irritation.  

I would recommend anyone who is having issues with stains to try this, some stains do set, and require multiple treatments until it resolves, so I would always recommend using this as a pre-treatment versus after.

Cleans hard to treat stains with little effort

I've been using this for years and it works great to get out stains either hand washing spot treatment. I tried a different brand and it left a horrible smell on my clothes and the bar smelled so bad I threw it away to get it out of the laundry room.

I've been using Fels naptha for at least 10 years now. Just bought some new bars today and they smell horrendous. Thankfully I had a few old bars to compare and the older ones smelled so good. The new one has a terrible smell, I don't know what has happened but now I'm mad.  The color, smell, consistency is all different. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMULA.
