I dug out my old baseball mitt from a storage container in the garage. It had not been used in about 15 years. The leather was bone dry, stiff and not broken in like it was back in its playing days. I did some research on google to find out if there were any 21st century techniques out there that would restore my glove to its original glory.  Well there were none...... just the old school way that I was taught in my youth.  Submerge the glove in warm water for 10 minutes, put a baseball in the pocket, tie it up tight and place it in a warm area for a day or two. Then put it in the dryer for about 20 min. to beat it up some, and then apply "Neetsfoot oil" its the best to restore old tried out leather and bring it back to life!

Very nice oil. I put in on my cloth and rubbed it into our leather couch. It's beautiful! Much nicer than just a "leather cleaner!" It soaks in and actually conditions the leather! I recommend it!

It took me a while to remember what I wanted,but I knew it was out there somewhere. My husband used to use it on his western boots. I found a leather wallet that I have had for many years and I didn't even know if this would work. Luckily it has and my wallet is like new again.

I bought a brand new baseball catcher's mitt, and it was very stiff. I used the Fiebing's neatfoot oil to soften and break the mitt in. The oil does everything it said it would. I did apply a second coat to the main folds. It works!

Does what it says it'll do.

For breaking in baseball gloves this is the best.
And as a leather preservative.

My dad recommended Neatsfoot oil to restore a dried out dining room set, and it is working GREAT. Product did not come in same container as the photo shows here but that doesn't matter.  It is working awesome and was a great price

Doesn't Work Just on Leather!

I found 6 baseball and softball gloves in the attic that haven't been used for 25 years and some for as many as 50 years.  And based on an internet article that a friend showed me, Neatsfoot Oil was the best choice to soften them up.  I treated them one time with baseball glove oil (found at Walmart) and Neatsfoot oil two times (from Walmart.com).  I'm not totally pleased. Perhaps 25-50  years of storage is too long to expect they can be soft again. However, I suspect that putting them to use regularly again ALONG WITH the oil treatments, might do the job.  For example, the past two days I've used the baseball glove playing catch with the grand kids.  And this baseball glove (unused for maybe 50 years) appears to be more flexible than the softball gloves that have gone unused for 25 years. So, maybe actual use plus the oil does the trick.

Use on old, stiff baseball gloves
