Graphics

A greatly expanded version of the first part of Final Fantasy 7. The graphics are beautiful, particularly when it comes to the city itself. The music is--which was very good in the original--is expanded upon and performed beautifully. It seems to dynamically change during scenes as well. 

The gameplay is the best feature. Whether is comes to choosing how to level your character's weapons or which magic to mix and match, there are interesting choices throughout. Due to weapon skills, the characters are more unique in battle compared to the original. Playing as Cloud feels completely different than playing as Barrett. The battles use a real time system that drastically slows down when you select weapons skills or magic. When the game is slowed down, you can see some breathtaking effects, bullets slowly passing, lasers devastating the field.  You can freely move around the field as you attack, dodge or block. You control 1 character but you can very quickly and easily switch to either of your 2 companions in battle. You can alternatively simply select which abilities they use once they are "charged" enough. Very fun throughout.

The story is mostly a faithful retelling of the original except greatly expanded. A much better script and good voice acting now accompanies it. There is 1 new character which was a let down for me. Another new addition is ghost like figures which are reminiscent of the dementors. Their contribution is the biggest change and not necessarily a good one, particularly towards the end of the game. The ending seems to go off the rails a little bit, but I can still appreciate everything else up to that point.

Very satisfied with Walmart's shipping, the game arrived for release day.

Fully realized Midgar with incredible gameplay

Although this is only the first part of the original 1997 game, the game's storytelling is enriched and the battle system revamped. Graphics are amazing for a console that is now 6-7 years old. I loved every second of it. As of any games these days, it's not without issues, but these are are easilly overlooked by how much love the devs put in recreating this game... with a twist ;)

This is the first game i played a second time back to back.

Probably my new favorite game of all time.

I was wondering how they were going to extend a 7 hour section of the original into a 40 hour game. I thought the story would be watered down but I am very happy to say they did a great job expanding on the story and adding entirely new elements in. This game certainly does the original justice. I highly recommend this game!

Excellent, just excellent!

I've been waiting for this release for years, and was not disappointed.  The production values of the game are absolutely top notch; the graphics, music and voice acting all ooze quality.

This game is definitely a 10/10.  It's not the complete game, and my only complaint is there is a *tad too much filler, but otherwise it is an absolute must-play!

Fantastic remake / remimaginig of the original!

I looked for this game all over for my son's birthday during quarantine. Walmart was the only store to have it in stock, and delivered it in just a few days.

Kudos for Walmart for such timely delivery.  Now, the game is visually stunning and would classify this as a totally brand new game than a remake.  It's depth and variety of gameplay is amazing.  Highly recommend if you like RPGs.

Timely delivery and Amazing Game

I loved playing FF7 as a kid, and I'm so happy this remake is finally out. I'm not too far through yet, but I love it so far. I love that you get more details about the characters and the storyline. I don't regularly play console games so I can't speak much to comparisons with other current games, but my hubby who is a gamer is quite enjoying it.
