Getting ready for pg&e preventive power failure ahead of California fire season. It power my big LG fridge. I use it weekly to power my weed eater, it keeps generator ready for emergency usage. It starts well warm up within 3 minutes then I plug appliance. Good buy

FIRMAN Power Equipment

I really like the Firman P01001 generator. It run very well and surprisingly easy to start in Québec cold winter. The unit is well designed and after a few minutes of warm up it provides very stable current up to 1050 running watt. I also prefer 4 strokes small engines. I find small 2 strokes generators much noisier, vibrates a lot, emit more pollution, requires mixing fuel and oil, mostly limited to 800 running watts and more difficult to start in cold temperature. For small portable generator the Firman P01001 is a quality product that I strongly recommend.

A great small portable 4 strokes generator.

Good generator. Powers a lot of stuff at the same time for a small generator while using a small amount of fuel. Desktop, monitor, 46" tv, laptop charger, battery charger and a dozen or so USB lights and devices. I'm off grid and run it for 10-12 hours per day in the winter when there is not much sun and estimate half a litre of gas per hour. Easy to change oil and spark plug. One issue I have found (but have also experienced it with Champion generators as well so can't knock it) is that at -15 to -20 C or colder (and outside for extended runs) if it is not covered up it will start to leak alot of the oil because of cold metal shrinkage. My solution for this and other generators is to use the original box it comes in as a cover... and cut out holes for the exhaust, air intake, front plug and top handle. When it's colder than -15 and I'm going to run it for an extended time, I just put the box on it after starting and it fits snugly and keeps it warm. Any warmer than -10 and covered, the unit will get too hot and not put out the proper voltage. I have removed the spark arrestor mesh over the exhaust as it gets clogged because of my extended use. I also have the low oil warning unplugged as I have found it is not very accurate and will shut down thinking the oil is low when it is not. I check the oil every couple days and have a spill pad underneath so I know if it ever does the big oil leak from cold shrinkage. I don't know how it does on starting in the cold as I bring it inside after using it and always start it when it is warm. Overall I'm happy with it and have recommended it. I have a second one still in the box as a spare and a bigger Firman for higher demand power items.

Good generator

I have been working around isolated buildings without power, this product has made the use of power equipment feasible without relying totally on battery operated equipment.

This product has been a lifesaver in areas without power.

After having to throw out food from a couple of power outages, I finally realized that by buying a small generator to power my refrigerator the money I would save by not throwing out food would pay for itself!

Exactly what I needed!

Thank god for other people's experiences with this generator. It stopped running after 10 minutes which when googled I was informed that this is a common problem with them. The fix is to disconnect the low oil line wire. Since doing that it has worked perfectly.

Happy with the purchase

I think this unit is perfect for construction site activities for power tools. I think it's a bit too loud for use during a tailgate party at the local stadium and definitely too loud in my opinion when camping in an established campground with other campers nearby. This will be great around the house in case our power goes out and we need to keep the refrigerator running.

Purchased the 1050 to supplement our 3500 dual fuel Firman we bought 2 years ago for our off grid cottage in the Kawarthas. The large generator will power the cottage and operate all my power tools. The only problem with it is its weight and I have difficulty putting it in the truck. The little generator will power most of my tools and shop vac but will NOT operate the LED bulbs. Although the generator does not surge the bulbs flicker and sometimes go out entirely. I would feel uncomfortable trying to power sensitive electronics I was hoping it would work to supplement the solar power in the winter as it is small enough to take in on a toboggan. Guess I will have to consider the more expensive portable inverter generator.

I would reconsider buying the 1050 if it was my only power

I purchased to power my reciprocating saw , drill, circular saw etc while building a 8 ft tall garden fence. I barely has the power to run my saws. I suppose my bad, should have verified the amp needed. But what is really poor design, is that it leaks gasoline out from around the camp when the generator is not level or when hand carrying it. It even warns about this in the manual.

I would not buy this brand again.

Generator started immediately, but ran only 10 minutes, before cutting off.I tried starting over and over, with same results. Finally I googled and read that this has been an ongoing issue with other buyers. They stated the same issue and advised to disconnect the oil sensor.I did this, and problem was corrected.In my opinion this should not be, when buying a new item. There is nothing more disappointing. I gave it 3 stars because after I found a solution, the generator functioned well, however I admit I am a little anxious now as to its dependability. Time will tell.

I would have reservations when buying again.

After the initial setup I connected it to 3, 60 watt incandescent bulbs and the lights would fluctuate from dim to bright a lot. It has made me uncomfortable to run much else on the machine. The motor seems to run stable but the power generation is not. I am hoping it will stabilize with some use but I have about 2 hours run time on the machine but not impressed so far.
