It's also great to use for clearing trails before hunting season or riding ATVs. Using this tool greatly reduces stress on your body and wear and tear on your hands. As anyone who burns wood in a fireplace knows, each piece of firewood gets handled 5 or 6 times before it finally meets its fiery end. Multiply that by a few dozen logs, and your back will be screaming for mercy. Enter the Fiskars x7 Hatchet Saw and Log Hook, aka the back-saving wizard.

First off, this 10-inch thing is sharp. How sharp, you ask? Well, let's just say I learned the hard way with a tiny slash on my thumb while unsheathing it. Note to self: Pay attention, Brian! But that's just a minor battle scar in the grand war against back pain. The hardened boron steel log hook with its toothed head and sharpened tip grips logs like a vice, making you feel like a log-wrangling superhero.

Easy to use

Perfect size saw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not thinking I would like the log hook as its small size did not give it a good first impression. After using the hook and going through a learning curve how to make it work for me, I had to say it will stay with my wood cutting tools when I go out to cut wood. The hook works very well in a tight work area on a log deck and the sharp point with serrated edges allows me to grasp a log for relocating to cut down to a manageable size. The strength of the metal impressed me as I was able to lift a sizeable diameter and long log to cut up. It would be nice if the overall length of the hook was longer as I am 6ft 4in and bending over can be tiring over time but if I needed to move a log bigger or longer then is the time to use a picaroon or peavey.  Nice tool, will probable get another one to use both at the same time.
