The charger cord is unique with a clip to keep the charger attached to the fitbit so it can charge. I love all the options on it like if you want the time vertical or horizontal. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been toying with the idea of purchasing one of these fitbits for a very long time but was skeptical because I had so many friends give me mixed reviews on them. So, needless to say I was happy to be able to get the fitbit and find out for myself whether this would be something I would like or not. I actually fell in love with this fit bit after the first day I wore it. It tracks everything steps calories burned miles and especially that my resting heart rate which as I'm getting a little older I like to keep track of. This fitbit also tracks my sleep which i found very useful and interesting. You have to download the app and charge the device first. The app is very easy to use and the fitbit keeps a charge for a week! Overall i am very pleased with the fitbit and i wear it every day. I love knowing my overall cardio health and having options to increase my health with step reminders and workouts. I love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate Wristband - Small, free, as a Walmart Spark Reviewer. This Fitbit would make a great gift for the Holidays for young or older. It is extremely easy to use. When I received mine there was no battery life so I plugged in to my iPhone plug. As soon as I did, I read www.fitbit.com (on the Fitbit screen), so I waited roughly five minutes and decided I would log into the website to see what I could figure out. I was actually sitting in my living room and checked out the Fitbit website while on my iPad. It was so easy. It asked if I wanted to download the app, I said yes, the app downloaded-I went to it and it said let's get started, so I was answering questions it asked, then at some point the screen flashed “searching.” I couldn't figure out what it was searching for (my Fitbit was charging in my kitchen) so I thought okay, I went in the kitchen took my Fitbit into the living room with me and the app found it and completed its download. The Fitbit measures your heart rate, really has a very long battery life. I haven't recharged since I have had this and first completely charged. This measures your exercise and automatically tracks your sleep as well. You can also sinc wirelessly and use your Fitbit to receive call and text notifications. Your Fitbit also shows the time and date on it. The cord has a clip that attaches to the three little dots on the back of the monitor and the other side plugs into your iPhone or Android plug to charge and takes roughly five to ten minutes to charge completely. Great product for any age group. The wristband is even interchangeable, if you decide you like another wristband better, you can take the wristband this Fitbit comes with and change with one of your choice.

Great Product and Would Make a Great Gift!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have previously had a fit bit flex which I liked very much, but all the extras that this fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate has so out does the flex, of course you have some of the same features as exercise steps, sleep time, calories burned, food and water intake if you wanted to add. The Alta HR has the time along with heart rate. I no longer have to wear my watch, so that leaves and arm open for other jewelry that I was unable to wear, so that is a great big plus to me. The heart rate feature has different zones.this shows you if your rate is up enough to be burning fat or cardio rate and a peak rate zone. You can choose a goal of how many steps you want to get a day and there is a bar on the step amount and it will show you how close you are. You get a little buzz reminder 10 minutes before the hour if you have not gotten in your 250 steps for that hour. You can have a reminder when it is time for bed. And to get up, up to 8 reminders a day. This is really the exciting part, you get calendar notifications, text and calls when on blue tooth is on to your phone. This come with the Fit bit and charger. And you can buy extra colors of bands to go with whatever you are wearing. So as you can see I highly recommend this product.

this makes my heart beat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate Wristband is so much more than I thought it would be. It has so many useful and helpful functions, some of which I have not had the pleasure of trying as yet. It monitors my quality of sleep, is an alarm clock, clock, heartbeat monitor, count my steps, notifies me when I get a text message, or a phone call, the list just goes on and on. The only small setback is, it is not waterproof, so I have to be careful to remember to remove it when showering or washing dishes. Too bad it won't warn you when you are about to get it wet. I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to keep track of their daily healthy movements and actions.

never ending applications

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] About a year ago I purchased the Fitbit Charge HR wristband tracker. I enjoyed it very much, but thought I'd give this streamlined version a try too, the Fitbit Alta HR. My original Fitbit has been very helpful to me as I work on losing weight and practicing a regular fitness routine. For the most part I like the Alta HR better than the Charge HR. I like that the band is thinner, and you can replace the strap with other straps (purchased separately), changing up the color and/or material. My Charge HR strap was not replaceable, which proved to be a problem over time, as the strap would begin to deteriorate and separate from the product. I like that I have the freedom to replace the Alta HR's strap. 

The display on the Alta HR seems to be a bit more advanced than the Charge HR. I've enjoyed using the “remind to move” feature, where the Alta HR will vibrate at 10 minutes before the hour if I haven't been active enough. If I haven't covered 250 steps in that hour, it will inform me how far I've got to walk to achieve that goal within 10 minutes. When I do cross that line, it gives me a congratulatory message.

One thing that I've really enjoyed with the Fitbit products is the ability to track my workout energy expenditure. The Fitbit can track my steps taken, my heart rate and calories burned (which is customized based on my personal body stats). If I've had a really tough workout, but the Fitbit tells me that I've burned 500 calories, I feel a great sense of accomplishment.

One drawback to the Fitbit Alta HR is the lack of a workout button. On the Charge HR wristband, I could press and hold a workout button, and it would begin to specifically track my stats during that period of time. When the workout was over, I'd press the button again. I would know down to the second what my body was doing during that period. Yes, the Fitbit does track the same information over the course of the entire day, but it's interesting to see what's going on during a specified period of time. With the Fitbit Alta HR, there is no button, and the Alta merely “senses” when you've started your workout, and decides when you've stopped.

The problem with this feature is that I want to be the one to decide when my workout begins and ends. For example, some workouts that I do might be pilates-based, and at the beginning of the routine, there might actually be very little movement or increased heart rate. According to my Fitbit Alta HR, the workout hasn't begun. On the other end of the spectrum, sometimes when I finish a heavy cardio routine, my heartrate might be slightly elevated for several minutes after the workout. Technically the workout is “over”, but my body doesn't know that. While this is helpful in my weight-loss efforts, it annoys the critical part of my brain that wants to look at a specified period of time. 

I actually contacted the Fitbit company about this issue, hoping that they would have a work-around. Unfortunately, they do not at this time. They stated that they would pass my concern on to their engineers, so perhaps they will be able to employ a solution through product improvement, or perhaps through their smartphone app.

Overall I do like my Fitbit Alta HR. In general I find it to be an improvement on my Fitbit Charge HR. My main reservation is the lack of a specific, controllable workout tracking function.

Improvement on Charge HR Except for One Feature

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Fitbit Alta HR is a solid activity tracker. It's not blinged out or flashy. With the heart rate tracking its a nice a nice thing to have while doing cardio training. The Fitbit has features that track your steps, the distance you have walked, how many calories you have burned, active minutes and sleep. I noticed that the Fitbit will tell you if you have been sitting or relaxing in your chair because it will alert you to get up and go go go. It has a slim comfortable design but I don't like the rubber Fitbit band. The display is hard to read outside in the sunlight and it is not the most dynamic sports tracker but works well for a senior citizen to keep track of their heartbeats. I have been wearing the Alta HR for about six days and will continue after this review as I thing it is a good way to keep track of my activity. It is comfortable to wear and the seven day battery life is a big plus. I now have a watch with other functions besides telling time. My hands are always in water and every time I do anything involving water I have to remove my Alta to keep it dry so not being waterproof is a big disappointment and inconvenience. I do like the fact that messages cause the Fitbit Alta to vibrate and tell me who is messaging me. I chose the alta hr for myself because my granddaughter wanted one also so I wanted to see which one was best for me and for her before I bought her one.

Fitbit Alta HR Review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am reviewing the Fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate Wristband Small size. This fitness band counts steps and measures heart rate. The band can vibrate when you receive phone calls, displaying the caller and the texts onscreen. Sleep tracking is provided using the heart rate monitor and movement detection. My favorite feature so far is competing against friends and family on the fitbit app. The adventure races are so much fun as you compete with your selected friends and family through a real route with your friend's profile avatars moving along the plotted map and viewing photos of points of interest along the way. The community and competition keep me moving and motivated! I like the fact that I can get six days of use before getting a low battery. The sleep tracking function is really interesting and works fairly well for me, but I do find it uncomfortable to wear at night. The Alta is slim and attractive especially for people with small wrists like me. I have a small wrist that measures 5.5" in diameter and the size small band fits well. This is a good basic activity tracker and the sleep tracking and call/text alerts are great additions to the device. I would recommend the Fitbit Alta HR!

This makes exercise fun!

The best part of Alta HR is that it's a slim design, it doesn't take up much space on your wrist, which is why I bought it.  That's not worth much if you can't see or read the "display" writing in normal daylight.  You have to go to a darker area (display is fine in the dark) and there is no setting to make the letters brighter. The most important thing is being able to see the writing on display- absurd and huge design flaw.  Also, the "notifications" is set to "allow notifications", that should be felt via vibration.  I get some, but not all notifications including text messages.  And last but not least, I ordered a new fitbit, this one was obviously used which is Walmart's fault, not Fitbit.

Can't read display in daylight

Charge watch all night it will not turn on. I've turned off Wi-Fi and followed all the things to get it back on track. It still will not turn on. Need a refund, please.
