[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've wanted a food saver for a long time, and decided to treat myself. I frequently buy a 40lb box of chicken breast from a local meat supplier, usually 2X a year. I usually have to make all of the meat into freezer meals in order to store it. This time, I used my FoodSaver to do anywhere from 2-4 breasts each and it's been so nice! I can go pull a small or large package out of the freezer whenever I need. The best part, it's already paid for itself, truly. I love that I can reseal bags of chips or cereal when my family opens everything at one time. I haven't used the small attachment yet, but I'm excited to try the marinade function this summer.

I love my food saver, this is an upgrade for me. I used to throw away so much that was grease burned. Now everything starts very fresh! It has also made canning for be seamless.

These machines really do work well. I have one that I have had for a couple of years, and it still works fine. You can keep meat frozen for a year or more, and it won't get freezer burned.

Food Saver does work well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for my Domestic Engineer at home.  It was put to use as soon as it came out of the box.  I recently brought home and entire lamb for the winter and she had it all packaged up in less than 30 minutes.  So far all the food we've store has been held fresh and secured.  My wife loves it and so do I.

Satisfaction guaranteed

Just received the Food Saver 4800, and it has been operating just as promised.  I plan to start making Meals in Trays and Vacuum Sealing them for the Freezer, a well as going to local Organic Fruit & Vegetable Markets and saving the Produce for later, I'll store Food in Mason Jars during Fall in Michigan also!

This Food Saver 4800 Works!

I am currently deployed in Afghanistan and bought the Food Saver for my wife to send me goodies. We had another different one from another vendor and my wife kept complaining it took her forever to get a decent seal on what she was packaging. I did some caparison shopping and found this model. She said it was one of the best ever. It is larger, but stores the bag roll in the machine making it more convenient. She struggled with other sealer this one seals quickly and easily the first time. She likes how she can control the vacuum easily unlike the last system we had. I can attest all of her goodies are still sealed when they arrive 10 to 14 days later and still taste great. She also said, spends less than half the time sealing than she used to and with no frustration at all.She is using once or twice a week to send me and my fellow airman treats from home. I'm receiving more packages because how easy this sealer is to use.

Overall Satisfaction

This food saver is so easy to use. I like the fact that the sealer roll is contained right in the unit. I also find it convenient that after sealing and filling the bag, all I have to do is place the bag in the slot and it automatically starts sealing. This is my second unit. The first lasted many many years. Had to order new unit because my daughter took my first one and it is still working perfectly!! Great product.

Money Saver

This is my first vacuum sealer. I wanted a good one and I like the fact I can make custom size bags. If you are going to do a lot of sealing and making your own bags you should make the bags ahead of time. It takes a long time to make the bags and seal them as there is a "cool down" delay. So if you are doing a bunch of sealing you end up waiting a lot of the time for the machine to let you make the next seal. Sometimes it doesn't seal and will just pump. You have to cancel, make the sure bag doesn't have a slight crease and try again. Overall it does the job and seals really well. It just isn't the fastest. I would recommend it.

Great machine

I have only had this for 1 month, what I have experienced so far is...it doesn't work well with liquids,  you will need to either freeze liquids 1st or find a different container to store it in. I did use it to seal steak, burger, chicken and turkey. It seemed to work great, a tip, when storing steak or chicken, put a piece of paper towel in the bag ,this will help soak up any blood.It works well, not sure how many you can seal at one time..I heard that it could over heat, meaning you will have to let it rest for a bit.

This was not my first food saver.  My first one lasted a good ten years with me then was given to my son. I only got this one as an upgrade (I wish I didn't).  It takes forever to seal the meat I buy in baulk because it over heats after sealing one bag. It is impossible to clean because the slide drawer does not come out. You have to turn it over and pull out the drawer which gives very little room to work so it doesn't solve your problem of grime keeping it from drawling the air out. Also trying to clean it upside down caused the lid to break off.  I liked my old food saver but I'm tired of fighting with this on. I will think about trying one again if it has better access for cleaning and better suction

This particular model is the worst
