I make up recipes in parchment lined casserole dishes, freeze them overnight, then lift the parchment and food out of the dish and seal in the expandable roll and pop back in the freezer.  Keeps beautifully without ice crystals or freezer burn.  When ready to use, just pop the frozen food and parchment in the original dish and bake away.

I bought these a couple of weeks ago thinking I would only be using them for really large items.  I found they work great for odd shaped things as well - I have found that in addition to large things like casseroles or roasts, these bags work well on baked goods.   Love Foodsaver!

Everything Fits!

This is the first time I used expandable bags. I had frozen some regular sized loaves of bread in preparation for vacuum packing them. This size worked nicely for two loaves.

Great for bread

If you bought a turkey on sale and want to keep it for longer than you trust the packaging it came in, this is the product! Large roasts/ No problem. Seals well and keeps as well as all of their other products!

Wonderful for those large items!

I recently replaced my beloved old Foodsaver, and with the new machine I decided to try out these expandable bags. I wasn't sure when I'd get to use them at first, but as it turned out, that very afternoon I dropped a large plastic container of homemade chicken stock on the floor. It shattered the brittle plastic in several places and made the cover completely unusable. So, I put this rather large cube-shaped, coverless container, into an expandable bag (which had plenty of room left over) , and let the new machine do its magic. It's a little trickier than using flat bags because you do need to make it very smooth at the vacuum end before you turn on the machine. But once I did that, I pressed the button, and like magic, I had a perfectly vacuum-sealed frozen cube of chicken stock! It definitely wouldn't have fit in any of the standard width bags, so these new ones really came in handy. I can't wait to buy a big roast for the freezer...I feel so empowered! :-)

These bags really EXPAND your options!

This is the first time I tried these expandable bags and I love them. They open big enough to put larger items in them. Unlike the other flat bags, these will hold whole chickens and roasts. I ifnd these very useful

Very useful

I bought this about a month ago and was a tad bit skeptical but have to say I love it. I am a crafter and even tho I figured this would be great for those large roasts that you catch on sale but never could vacume seal, hmm, can't say that anymore. I also vacume sealed a throw quilt just to be sure it would stay fresh until I needed it next fall. It takes a little practice to get the hang of tucking that pleat in before sealing but just a little practice so don't hesitate give it a try.

11" x 16' Expandable Heat Seal Roll is awesome!

Bought this a month or so ago, as part of a BOGO sale and it was a good purchase. The only downside comes when the bag needs to be sealed, id recommend sealing it twice and youll have to have some patience with actually arranging the bag to have it vacuumed. The issue is that the bag is expandable and the way that it is folded can interfere with the vacumm and sealing process. It is useful though and I used it to transport food to a bbq that was premade and the bag is very big once you open it, it is deceiving!

surprisingly useful

After getting our Food Save and the complimentary bags I realized more sizes were necessary. The expendable roll makes it more versatile in fitting larger items. Care must be taken to ensure there are no "pleats" in the sellable strip however, which takes attention to detail.

My wife and I tried together to get these to seal. It was very difficult to get them to seal. 
It took about 5 tries to get them sealed.
