The tea kettle is quite beautiful, and has one of the largest water reservoirs of any I found. The retro appearance is perfect for those who have vintage, cottage, or farmhouse tastes, but modern enough to really fit anywhere. The black is a true, deep black - not that "off" color some cheap models have, and the construction is solid. As far as function, even at its full 1.8L capacity, the water heats up FAST. I purchased this as a gift for my husband, and he LOVES it (already migrated to the "man cave"). This kettle is difficult to find, especially in black, so if you stumble across it at a good price, grab it.

NOTE: My review is for the tea kettle only. The seller is a completely different story! Poor shipping tracking, and I am fortunate my package arrived intact without any damage - the kettle was shipped in its actual RETAIL box WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL PROTECTION! Though I love the kettle, I would be VERY hesitant to buy from this particular seller again.

Great Kettle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cousin had a tea kettle like this in CA and I loved it.  I had never used an electric tea kettle so I came home and bought this one.  I love it!!!  my mom even loved it and ordered one but in red!

It is really cute , larger than anticipated. I gave it 4 stars as the lid is in an awkward position and if the kettle had been on and you need to refill - it becomes very hot. Basically I feel, the lid has no insulation and it is not always convenient to fill. Otherwise it boils quickly, I like the larger spout as well. Shipping was surprisingly efficient and I could follow it all the way to my home. Price was good for what you get.

Fridgedaire retro stainless steel kettle 1.8L

Just opened the box and saw scratches and imperfections in the paint. Even though they aren't deep, I'm kind of worried that this will be a point of failure for the kettle.  I've included a picture with aqua lines indicating where the scratches are. Other than that it's exactly what I'm looking for.  I'm returning it in the hope that the new one doesn't have that issue.

Came with scratched and damaged paint.
