[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this Melissa and Doug fishing game which was great for my three-year-old. My son is just now getting more hand eye coordination and this came really got him to focus and allowed him to practice with his colors and numbers. After he got the hang of it it did get a little bit easy so I would say maybe for a 2 to 3 year old would be the prime time frame to play this game but it's still a lot of fun for the entire family. As a family we take turns and we come up with some of our own rules but there are three variations of the game to be played which are all very fun. And true Melissa and Doug fashion I would recommend this toy and would gift it to friends with kids between the ages of two and three.

I love that it's a smaller game so it doesn't take up a bunch of room to store and play at the table. We will be purchasing some as Christmas gifts!

Great for young kids!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our kids were very happy with this product. It is not too difficult, and not too easy. It's colorful and high quality, as can be expected from Melissa and Doug toys. And its windup, so no batteries; no worrying about the kids leaving it turned on or anything like that. I also like that if the kids sit on opposite side of the ship, you can't see which ducks the other person has already chosen and checked. This levels the playing field :) Overall we are very pleased with the hook and duck pirate adventure!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My almost three-year-old is fully obsessed with the Melissa & Doug Fun at the Fair Hook a Duck Pirate Adventure, known in my house as "my ducks." And, not to brag, but I am pretty good at it myself. I hear a lot of "good job, Mommy!"s in this game. The variant we play is fairly straightforward for the youngest players-you hook a duck, great for hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills-but there are slightly more complications versions for older children, so this will have a long (game) shelf life. The game itself is nice and sturdy for little hands. Assembly is super quick and easy; the hardest part may just be gathering all of the ducks from my duck-loving girl. I like that there are no batteries, and my toddler likes to wind the dial up make the water spin. The fishing poles/hooks are great for collecting ducks, but also for collecting (or trying to collect) pretty much every other toy in our house. The Melissa & Doug Fun at the Fair Hook a Duck Pirate Adventure is a fun, screen-free way to occupy a younger child for quite a while, both in independent or partnered play. It's good for taking turns, counting ("how many ducks?"), number identification ("which number is this?"), and a surprising springboard for other imaginative play. We love our ducks and I bet you will, too.

This Pirate Adventure is Just Ducky

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently received this product to try, and it is already a huge hit at our house. We have two small children 3 and under, and they both love this game. Our 3 year old is obsessed with pirates too, so this was a perfect game for them to spend an hour inside during a very hot day. The game itself is very well made, and will hold up to kids using it for many years. The plastic is good quality on the ducks, and the poles are wooden with plastic anchors. We've ordered games from other companies recently, and have been very disappointed with the quality, especially compared to games we played as kids 20 years ago. It kept the kids engaged, ha bright colors and ingenious mechanisms to make it move, and helps hone their motor skills. I would highly recommend this game and have always been huge fans of Melissa and Doug products for this reason.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Fair Hook a Duck Pirate Adventure is a great addition to our kids' playroom. Our children loved seeing the ducks spin around and attempt to catch them. We found that the fishing hooks and ducks were easy enough for our 3 year old to manage and she was able to successfully play the game. The dial is easy enough for a child to turn, so there isn't a lot of parent intervention required to keep play going. It spins a bit slowly, so I feel it's a perfect game for ages 2-4. Children older than 4 would likely want a faster, more challenging game.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son and I enjoyed playing with the Fun at the Fair Hook a duck pirate adventure. It's easier than those rigged games I played as a kid, at an appropriate skill level for a 3 yr old. He liked trying to hook the ducks but had a hard time at first. Once we practiced with the game not moving he got the hang of it and then started enjoying it. Has replayability, simply a game of skill. Seemed sturdy. My son sometimes gets excited and plays rough but the parts held up and nothing has broken. Safe, no dangerous parts Received this toy for free as a product tester.

Fun at the fair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son likes playing this game often but after about 10-15 minutes he starts to get bored with it. Also he only has older brothers that are too old to play and they get bored very quickly with it. We try and make it more fun with having other fair like games and they go around and do each activity.

Good but gets bored

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The game is definitely well made in terms of quality of materials and durability. It is very easy to set up with just connecting a few pieces and doesn't even need batteries. The cute design, bright colors and cute ducks were fun for my toddler and she was excited to go "fishing". The premise of the game itself was a little too easy though, where you spin the wheel and try to fish a duck with the matching number underneath. My toddler quickly got bored of playing it since there are only 5 ducks and just started to use to fishing pole to hook other things around the house. I think this game definitely resembles the carnival game but is too easy and quick to play. I was more impressed of how the toy looked itself than actually playing it.
