U just have to find a button on her head right where her little bunch of hair is.... Press her head or button down and it should work fine. I thought it didn't work either, till i read the comment below. Find the button and make ur kid do it with you so they have an idea of  what to do!

my daughter loves this toy! I got it for her for christmas on black Friday but she ended up seeing it in the store and threw a fit about it. so I gave it to her for her birthday and I kid you not, she sleeps with it, eats with it, takes it to school with her. shes obsessed.

i bought this dog for my granddaughter for christmas.
she fell in love with it. but it stoped working i thought it was something mechanically wrong with it. i see  on the reviews that everyone had the same problem. but i figured it out on the top of the head there's a button you press and that's how you control the dog. its a very nice product.

This was a cute toy but it only worked for a very short time. We change the batteries and still can't get it to bark or jump like it once did.

i got it for black Friday, i put it in the trunck until Christmas. ande everytime i opened the trunk it jumped and barked. finally got it out the box and it stopped working. changed the batteries, nothing. i literally just found out that there is a BOTTON ON THE TOP OF THE HEAD that you have to push once it goes into sleep mode. so hope this helps someone.

In the store and in the car this toy wouldnt shut up ..christmas day it worked briefly and then nothing bought new batteries and all was prepared to rerurn it but box was torn and barcode wasn on it anymore.got online to look up item and ran across a review that staed the same thing and stated that they found out if you press down o the head it comes out of sleep mode.my daughter tried it and it worked..thank for the review.now she is so happy

Saw Poppy in store and my granddaughter fell in love with her. We left the store and I returned later and got it for her for Christmas. Poppy stop working overnight and I was preparing to return her to the store when I read a review stating she needs to be reactivated by pushing down on her head! Glad I didn't return her!

This is one of the better "Fur Real" pets that I have puchased for my girls. I got this in the store on Black Friday (it was one of 3 left on the shelf!!) for $20!!
My daughter heard it "barking" in the bag, so of course we had to open it. After she played with it for awhile, it went silent (sleeping). When she wanted to play with her "Poppy" puppy again, she petted the back, and nothing. I thought it was broken so I bagged it up, prepeared to return it, when low and behold, I heard a bark from inside the bag!! It turns out that you have to press down on Poppy's head to reactivate her after she goes to sleep.
I am wondering if that could be the reason for so many negative experiences?
The pup is adorable, sweet looking little face and soft fur. However, she can get anoying with all the motion activates jumping and barking!! Also, her body is not soft, so cuddling will be minimal. I am prepared for her to get really dirty, very quickly too, as her fur is stark white.
All in all this is a cute, entertaining toy for a wide range of ages, kids-adults!

NEEDS CLEARER INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE!

worked in store, not now. I tried new batteries nothing. the thing wouldn't shut up in the car, then get home and it won't do anything. my one year old is not happy.

Worked great in store, got it home and it does not work as it was in store. I did put in fresh batteries, I did switch it from demo to on and even retried the demo. Was a very cute toy. Bought it for our little dog.
