I upgraded to the Garmin forerunner 55 to the Garmin forerunner 255. I think this is a great stepping stone into the more advanced running world without dropping $1,000 on the newest watch. So far, great battery life, great new features, love the big watch screen,  and accuracy is much better compared to the forerunner 55. Great purchase! Worth the money

Love the watch and all the functions it has!

Great watch for runners!

It's been more than a year, and it still performs well. It lets me send prewritten responses to texts (eg. Yes, No, Out running, or a custom, etc). It stops my alarm in the morning--which I use nearly every day and it helps me locate my phone (and my phone locates the watch). The only feature I'd like to see is what song is playing during an activity.

Great Device

Great fitness device.  My last Garmin (which still works just fine) is a Fenix 3, no HR.  I was looking to get back to running after a significant hiatus, and liked all the features offered with the Forerunner 255.  I'm pleased with the accuracy of the "on wrist" HR monitoring, which seems on par with my HRM 200 chest monitor.  The characters are easy to read, the back light is quite bright when needed, and although weight is not a big deal with me, it's quite light on the wrist.  If you can still find one, and you don't need the touch sensitive watch face, this could be an excellent choice for you.

Perfect for my needs

This watch is amazing in just about every way, but the main thing I love about it is the MIP display technology. Unlike other smart watches where you have to move your wrist to get it to turn on and tell the time, or where it glows in the dark when you don't want it to, the display is always on and uses minimal battery, thanks to MIP. I sincerely hope Garmin continues to make watches with this display technology.

Garmin should keep making Memory In Pixel (MIP)

The 255 provides the data that I want but also automatically tries to demand input on activities that I don't want to track.  Need to contact Garmin to figure out how to simplify and only get the data that I want and need and not a glut that I can't use.

Overkill

I like the watch a lot I did hope the battery would last a little longer. I ended up returning it after a week. I'm going to upgrade. Also I paired it with another fitness sponsbfcut was not recording all if my steps between the two. I loved watch aesthetics they are clean. The band was great quality.

Good value for the price

I need some more time to really get used to this watch, but so far, I'm not happy with it. I used the vivoactive 4 for years and switched to the forerunner because I'm a competitive runner and thought it would be more suitable for a runner. While it does have some extra run specific features, they work terribly and over complicate everything. The track workout feature, for example, worked terribly. After 3 laps it said I was at 1 mile? I saw no feature to adjust the lane. I ended up just switching to regular run mode and using it's lap feature, like I used to on the vivoactive 4. All the extra run training advice and feedback is garbage. It seems to think that any non-aerobic run is bad, and you are always overreaching. I'm a seasoned runner with years of experience, and a solid track record of not getting injured. I can tell you right now, while I am pushing hard, I am not overreaching. The sleep feature is entirely inaccurate. It is consistently a full hour or more below the actual amount of sleep I got. The other night I went to bed at 8:45 and fell asleep fast, slept very well, and woke up at 4. Somehow it thought I didn't get to sleep until 10:05 and it recorded 5:08 hours of sleep? What kind of math is that? It's garbage. The absolute worst part about this watch is how it beeps. I use trainingpeaks software to design my workouts (no, I'm not switching to Garmin, Garmin does not work for advanced training). The vivoactive 4 did fantastic with trainingpeaks workouts. But now, with the forerunner, it beeps at me constantly every time I'm outside of my target range for a workout. It is SO annoying. And as far as I can tell, the beep cannot be disabled. I've searched the web far and wide, even used AI to try to find a way to disable it, and nothing works. This is beyind a bone headed feature on your part. The only upgrades this watch has is a better battery and better heart rate sensor. That's it. Everything else is worse. I used thr vivoactive 4, a watch not even designed for runners, since 2020. That watch was better for a runner in 2020 than this piece of garbahe is today. When we get a new product 6 years later, we expect it to be an improvement. All I want to do is throw it away. You guys should be ashamed of this product. I am never getting any garmin product ever again.

Awful watch, complete downgrade from older models.

mine has stopped working properly after 30 days.  I dropped it briefly in some water,  and now it is acting very strange.  it won't let me discard a brief run.  and it doesnt want to show the time.  it is constantly going back to run,  with the red band around it.  other than that,  
i really liked it for 30 days.
