I just had this freezer delivered today so I don't have a great idea of how it's going to work but it fit through the door and right now it's cooling off!! If it works like my GE fridge I'm going to be a happy camper!!! I really appreciate the digital numbers on the door plus the high temp and door open alarms!!!

Have had the freezer almost a month and so far so good. I like the overall size and the quietness of the compressor also. It maintains 0 F with no problem.

Great Freezer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit replaced a 20 year old GE freezer similar in size. A little more capacity. Better shelving. Improved lighting and significantly quieter. Temperature at about "0" degrees. Just what we needed!

Out with the old in with the new.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had the freezer for a few months. It replaced an ancient chest freezer. We are pleased with the capacity, the ease of retrieving items and assessing what's there,  and the even temperature. We don't know but imagine that the unit will be far more energy-efficient than the old chest freezer.

Accessibility, convenience

We have had our first GE 14 cubic foot freezer for 18 years.  It is still working, but we were afraid it might go out some time while we were traveling.  So we bought a brand new GE 14.1 cubit foot freezer and gave our 18 year old one to the kids.  We have only had the new one two weeks, but we love it and there is more shelf space in the new one.  Here's to hoping for another problem free 18 years!

This is our second GE freezer

Our other freezer went out while we were on vacation. Didn't  lose anything cause our daughter was here. We bought the same brand and model  cause we liked the other one so much. The new model has a few more features our other one didn't. We really  like it.

We decided to get an upright freezer for our basement just when Covid hit.  Soon after, freezers were impossible to find in stock anywhere.  We wanted an upright freezer so it would take less floor space, not require so much bending down, make it easier/quicker to find things and have better lighting.  Finally freezers are becoming available again and this is the one we got.

There are only two minor improvements I would suggest for the product:

First, the front feet have an open center, leaving only a thin ring of plastic to make contact with the floor, so pulling on the door handle causes the freezer to slide around a bit on smooth floors (I added "gripper" pads under the feet to stop that).  

Second, although the control panel/display on the front of the door is a nice feature, looks great and likely added extra cost to the unit compared to more simple freezers we looked at, the display only shows you what the temperature is set to, rather than the actual temperature inside the freezer.  The "brains" of the freezer must monitor the internal temperature so it knows when to run the compressor if it starts getting too warm.  It would be nice if the display worked like my wine cooler--that display normally shows the actual internal temperature and briefly changes to display the set temperature when you press the temperature "+" or "-" button.

The "GE" emblem on the door was installed a bit crooked, but this freezer is in our basement, so no big deal.

All in all, an excellent freezer and we are quite satisfied!

Excellent Freezer

Bought this last month.  We lost power.  The manual states an alarm will sound if the temp is too high.  It says the temp alarm will sound again in 6 hours if the temp isn't restored.  We never heard an alarm UNTIL we reset the power. That does us no good because we lost every thing in the grerzer.  Then I I tried to write customer relations department based on the email in the warranty packet but that e mail wasn't valid.
