We love our new GE Refrigerator! Love the color. My mom always bought GE products. It's certainly a name you can trust. It's the perfect size for my husband and I. We had a unique situation with the amount of space we had and this fits perfectly! The cooling for both the top and bottom is good, the water outlet is perfect as well. It takes up no extra space being on the inside on the side. The only negative thing I can say about this refrigerator is that I wish the freezer was a little bigger and wish the top compartment moved back a little further. Otherwise, it's good and I would buy it again.

We had this model GWE19JMLES delivered the 4th of Jan. 2018. It replaced a failed, 2 yr. old, more expensive counter depth fridge of a different brand so this review may seem like a comparison. The slate finish looks great and easier to clean than the stainless steel fridge we had. It fits perfect under the 33" cabinet space (the failed fridge was 36" so it was a little big in there). I do miss the larger freezer from the 36". If you have a large family, this model's freezer may be too small for you. All in all we are very happy with this GE counter depth fridge.

Pros:
Delivery was ontime and the installers did a professional job.
The counter depth and 33 inch width is just the right size for our condo's kitchen.
It runs quiet.
The slate matte finish hides most fingerprints but not kids potato chip fingers and is easy to clean.
The freezer is well lit. 
Ice maker makes lots of ice.
Plenty of shelf space in the fresh food compartment.

Cons:
GE has no current manual for this model as of purchase date.
The water dispenser operation is not one handed and the button is a little hard to push and hold.
Bottom freezer basket is small.
Does not come with a water filter bypass plug.
The french doors do not close by themselves by gravity. They must be pushed shut to latch. Just something I need to get used to.

style that fits in our kitchen and budget

It looks great but it is a very loud fridge. It does not seem to hold a consistent temperature. It randomly freezes the vegetables and you are never sure if the ice cream will be soft or frozen rock hard on any given day. I cannot recommend this product.

I would not recommend

Okay not great.  Noisy when opening and closing especially the bottom freezer.  The plastic bottom freezer make a racket. But it works - hopefully for a while. Also, came with cosmetic damage they offered a discount or a five year warranty...I wonder why?

Okay -features

You loose a lot of large shelf space with this Fridge. The shelves are not very deep, half the depth of a normal size fridge. But makes up for it a little with more door space I suppose. The freezer drawer is super small, not really enough room for much of anything, and it seems the bottom drawer is tapered in at the bottom so it makes it even smaller. Other than that, I love the slate color of stainless steel, which is fingerprint resistant. But now I know next time get the full size, not counter depth. Pictures online make it seem so much bigger than it truly is.

Small freezer

This refrigerator is not well designed. The crisper drawers are too small and have a lot of wasted space. The cabinet rattles on different cycles. The temperature control is not accurate. The recommendation is to set at 37deg. If I do that things freeze in the refrigerator part. The cooling is not uniform . Half a shelf will freeze and the other half does not. The freezer drawer wobbles when opening and the ice tray shelf doesn't open and close easily. I had to buy sight unseen because I needed a refrigerator quickly. Still took two weeks to get.

Don't buy unseen.

After a few years, ran all time. Freezer would frost up even though the door was closed. Two parts on the French doors broke that caused some trouble when closing the doors. The water line for the ice had issues after installation and then, never quite worked right. Eventually the top part stopped cooling and now I have to replace it. 
It's an attractive refrigerator and I loved the bronze color, but disappointed it didn't last longer.

Disappointed

Absolutlely terrible freezer drawer design. Just got this refrigerator and only after install and began using did I discover that the two lower freezer drawers open together when the bottom section is opened. If you just want an item in the bottom section you have to push the top drawer back into its slot. Moreover, when the ice compartment is automatically filled that top drawer becomes heavy and its momentum when opened can send ice cubes out of its container. It seems this is common with this type of GE refrigerator when I looked at others today in the showroom. These drawers should open separately. Don't buy.

Terrible lower shelf freezer design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought one in Nov 2024 and it died sept 2025. it took 2 months for its replacement. new one running well so far . i like the less space with this counter one.

I just received my third GE Refrigerator in approximately 18 months.  Prvious two could not be repaired, current refrig smelled when I opened the door after it cooled.  Each day it gets worse and makes me sick to smell the fumes.
