The efficiency and technology of this washer is beyond what I expected. The dispensing feature and capacity of the drum saves me so much time and effort. I've not had a washer I've loved so much with its performance, features, aesthetics and more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never had a brand new washer as an adult. My other washer was probably about 20 years old when it was given to us so needless to say I was happy to finally get this washer home.  It's amazing the things  you get excited about as an adult vs. a kid. This washer has so many features I don't know where to start. First off it looks awesome!  The color is a dark blue with specks in it. Very sleek looking. The first thing thats different for me is there's no agitator in the middle. I worried my clothes wouldn't get that good agitation to get them clean but after watching a few loads, no need to worry. Even with a very small part at the bottom to agitate, it's able to mix and swish the clothes really well. My favorite feature is the laundry soap tank. It holds so much!!  You don't have to constantly add soap to each wash. It has a button for auto, less, or more soap that you can adjust for each load. It also has an anti tangle option which is great for towels or sheets. My clothes would always get tangled in my previous washer. You can adjust so many levels like the soil, spin, water fill, temp etc.  Really customizes your wash routine.  There are also different compartments that pull out for adding different soap or a pre wash or oxi. The coolest feature of this washer is the online app and the ability to add Alexa. The online app alerts you on your phone and allows you to customize and view the load in real time. I like this because it doesn't have a loud end of cycle signal so I don't always know when the wash is done but my phone alerts me. I did have trouble setting up the app and we learned that newer android phones are having trouble connecting to the washer because it asks for a password. We were able to solve the issue by using an older model android phone to connect the washer to the app. After it's connected you can view it on any phone.  And basically you can say "alexa, wash my clothes!" How cool is that? The inside of the washer is huge and holds a lot of clothes.  I feel like it spins really well and gets the clothes really clean. I'm happy to do laundry when it's with a machine as cool as this one.

What a washer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our first experience with a smart washer, and so far I have been very impressed.  It had all the usual settings to wash, and a few new ones for me: Normal, whites, delicates, towels, bulky, jeans, sanitize, quick wash, drain and spin, and downloaded.

The smart features include:  Smart Wash and Smart Rinse, Enhanced Smarter Wash Technology, Smart Flex Dispense, Power Pre-Wash, Quiet Wash, Tangle Control.  

The Smart Wash and Smart Rinse have sensors that measure soil and detergent levels with its cycling to optimize wash and rinse times.  The smart dispense technology will apply the exact amount of detergent needed for the load.  The Smart Flexdispense is a ‘drawer' for extra detergent, fabric softener, pods, etc. that will maximize the cleaning of clothes.

Smart Features powered by Smart HQ is an app that you download on your mobile device, and you can control and monitor your laundry from anywhere.  I receive notifications because I am notorious Dow forgetting about clothes in the washer.  The app will send me a notification that tells me the load will be ready in 5 minutes.  Then it will send me a notification when it's done.  If I still haven't gotten the clothes out of the washer, I will get a notification after it has sat there for 30 minutes.  I absolutely love this feature.  This app will also make sure you have the most recent features.

I love this washer.  It takes less water and less detergent, which saves us money.  Our clothes come out looking and smelling clean. I'm a huge fan!  This is one smart washer!!

One Smart Washer!

We bought GE top of the line Profile washer and dryer. In just 2 years we need to replace the washing machine lid.  The plastic cracks at the hinges and you can't close the lid.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The washer is nice and I would have nice things to say except that after only 2 years it has malfuntioned with a major issue. I'm hearing the parts are 400 and labor 500.. funny right. Guess i'm getting a new washer. The 10 year warranty only covers the engine and in my case its not that. Possibly the transmission which turns the engine. So no help since I didn't volunteer to pay more for insurance or extra coverage for a new machine.

Major issue after only 2 years

If I could give this machine a 0/5 stars I would. I have owned the set now for less than 4 years and the lid has catastrophically failed. It is cracking, splitting and breaking apart right before my eyes. I attempted to bandaid the issue however it is beyond bandaid at this point.
I can no longer functionally run the machine as the lid will not properly close to latch.
Not to mention, the dispenser tray breaking months ago and I was forced to throwing pods into the machine to be able to efficiently wash anything. While attempting to still utilize the broken dispenser tray, I ended up with mystery stains that ruined many, many clothes. These mystery stains would not wash out no matter what I did to spray treat. Many of the clothing items I would keep running through the wash so as to not set in the stain but still would not come out.
Becomes out of balance excessively, with loud vibration that often moves the machine way out of place.
I will attempt to attach photos, however the option is greyed out for me.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

The capacity is great. Dispensing drawer needs work.  It is very cheap & flimsy.  There are 4 compartments for detergent, pods, softener, etc. the 2nd one from the left 9 times out of 10 is full of water when the washer has completed the  cycle.  It seems to clean well & I like the extra water feature as well as the drain & spin.  Seems to get unbalanced often.

I am not kidding - stay away from this HE top loader.
1. Multiple cycles where the clothes don't even touch water during the wash cycle.
   a. Selecting 'Deep Fill', and 'Deep Rinse' on any other cycle besides 'Bulky' won't wash the clothes (which 'Bulky' + 'Deep Fill' fills the ENTIRE 5.4 cu ft wash bin - conservatively I estimate 30 - 35 gallons of water on the initial fill plus the rinse, etc.).
2. Reread the first comment. You can't select the wash level. Unless you don't want your clothes washed you have to use the 'Bulky' mode on 'Deep Fill'. You can't select the water level manually (see comment #4) - so you are left to GE's good ol' control logic to calculate the correct amount of water.
3. Are you getting this? Two options: Washed clothes using WAY more water than you need (+ detergent) or not well at all (hello soup scum stains...).
4. If the EPA requires you to use less water and not set the wash fill level - don't continue selling a product that complies with the guidelines that DOESN'T DO IT'S JOB (psst - manufacturers change product all the time because their designs no longer comply with federal guidelines).
5. This washer takes all of your clothes and knots them together in a big ball tighter than cables holding up the Golden Gate (even with 'Tangle Control' on) - obviously that was a hyperbole, but they come out in a huge stretched knotted ball of clothes that you have to detangle. 
6. I have tried everything under the sun to get this washer to work - I never thought I would find myself online watching videos of how to do laundry in this thing.

Overall impression - looks nice; built nicely, doesn't wash clothes. Looking for another washer.

My Back Sweat Washes Clothes Better...

Honest review ahead…I researched washers like crazy and finally decided on this one because I used to have a GE Profile Front Load & loved it but left it when I sold my house. This top load has some newer features and some of the old ones that I liked so I thought I'd love this one too! I loved the auto detergent dispense on my old one but that's the first issue. The detergent doesn't flow into the tank and just sits in the top of the dispenser so it's ALWAYS saying Low or Empty Detergent and I have to pour more in. See attached photo. I have ran a cleaning cycle through it with hot water as directed and tried different detergents but it's still the same.  I've stopped using it now and just fill the regular detergent dispenser myself. The flex dispense drawer is a great feature but it's so inconvenient to have to use the app to control it. There should be a flex dispense button on the controls. The Alexa feature won't work at all so that's pointless. I understand that an impeller washer doesn't use much water and that's what I wanted. But it REALLY doesn't use much water and clothes come out with spots on them from possible detergent. I've set it to extra rinse or smart rinse and that's the only way they aren't spotted with detergent. Don't bother using the scent beads unless you use deep water. The beads spot your clothes like crazy because there just isn't enough water to properly dissolve them. Plus, as you can see in the photo, the clothes that get stuck towards the outside of the drum won't agitate and they just stay stuck there the whole cycle. I load it around the edges and around the impeller like is suggested, use 1-2 Tbls of detergent so it's not too much and have tried different settings. The deep water fill fills it up completely to the top even if there's only a few items in it. The specs said it would sense the clothes and only add a few more gallons depending on how much is in there. If the spin cycle is on anything higher than low, the washer will literally shake and vibrate so badly that it sounds like metal crashing into metal plus it will walk itself across the laundry room so much that it almost ripped out my water lines. I absolutely hate this washer. Complete waste of money but that's what I get for trying to save a few hundred bucks instead of just getting the front load like I wanted. I have nothing good to say about this washer. Like I said, I researched heavily to make sure reviews were good and it had features I'd like. I never thought I'd be one of the few one star reviews for this machine. Spend your money on a different one and steer clear of this.

I'd return it if I could! HATE IT!

I rarely post reviews.  I should do so more, as I read them to help make important purchase decisions.  So here goes:  I have a house full of GE appliances and have been a loyal customer for over 20 years.  So this is a MAJOR disappointment to say.  This is THE WORST washer (and matching dryer) in the entire history of laundry.  A washer that really doesn't wash.  I almost barely gets the clothes wet.  Its really rough on the clothes while not getting them clean.  And a dryer that wall doesn't get the clothes, towels, or rugs even close to dry. So after spending a premium price on the pair less than 6 months ago, I will painfully, but with extreme joy send these of to the dump and buy another set from a different manufacturer and live happily ever after.  THIS IS NO JOKE.  STAY AWAY FROM THESE MACHINES.  You've been warned.  GE made me edit some of my comments for this review.
