Instructions

Most users find installation requires minimal effort or careful instruction following.

Filter cost is a significant drawback for many customers.

While the cost is twice as much as a clone, the OEM filters seem to last and definitely provide a better water flow after a month or so of installation. The clones work fine for a month or two but seem to start reducing the water flow after a while which also affects the ice maker. Spending a $100 a year on the OEM filters is worth not having trouble.

walmart.com

The water filter is great. What I really want to talk about is how awful GE's product ordering site is. In the year of our Lord 2026 I can't believe how hard it was for me to find and select the two replacement items I needed. It should have been as simple as putting in my model number and choosing from a list. It wasn't. At one point I got so frustrated I tried to order from a 3rd party vendor. I should have. I feel like I rewarded your awful site with my money and that makes me feel used. Even checking out was hard.

Incredibly Difficult Site

geappliances.com

Has to be placed just right to fit. Very expensive.

Filter Review

great purifier for the freeze. Gentle reminder to remove the old one carefully.

Fits nicely, easy to install, works well at filtering water.
Very Expensive.

Works well, price is high.

Purchased two GE RPWFE filters and the fridge would not work with either one.
Verified and reinserted multiple times. Power cycling fridge did not help.

Reinserted the old filter and it worked immediately.

There is something wrong with the purchased filters.

Refrigerator rejects the purchased filters

It was the correct part but flowed about a quart of water and failed. No water would pass through the filter and the system needed to be flushed because of contamination by the “new” filter.

This is not a genuine GE filter. It is a knockoff. It would not work in my refrigerator, even though it installed properly, causing the dispenser off light to go on, necessitating a service call. Repair person confirmed it is not a genuine filter. Do not buy.

Not a genuine GE filter

Ordered (2) GE RPWFE water filters. Both were too long for my refrigerator receiver.
There was no noticeable click when attempting to insert and connect to my refrigerator. The replacement part %23 GE RPWFE was the exact part number for the existing working filter which could easily be removed and reinserted. This product was ordered from Wal-mart because of the lower price. I will be seeking the product from another vendor.

Replacement part fails to work.

GE RPWFE Refrigerator Water Filter - WG03F04947 centered front view of a GE replacement refrigerator water filter cartridge; NSF-certified to reduce cysts, lead, mercury, asbestos and select pesticides, plus chlorine taste and odor; tested to reduce select pharmaceuticals (ibuprofen, progesterone, atenolol, trimethoprim, fluoxetine); 6-month cartridge life; often used as a spare replacement for portable water pitchers.
