I have had this set for almost a decade. It has saved me in many situations with studs. It is my go to kit when I need something quick (especially with the standard socket adapters). It is tough and had been put through alot and has stood the test of time. Recently came in handy doing brakes. It is a must have!

I use these all the time. Way better than deep sockets. Easy to change. Sturdy. Good selection of socket sizes. Can get in some tight spots.

Very versatile

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 46 Pc. 1/4" & 3/8" Drive Pass-Thru™ 6 Point SAE/Metric Tool Set has done exactly as I needed. It performs as expected with being able to get where a normal ratcheting wrench cannot. I like that the set gives you a normal ratcheting wrench attachment so you are not reaching for other tools. The key system that this tool uses to hold in each attachment fits tightly and doesnt have much play for it to fall out on its own. The quality of the sockets are very good with very minimal tolerances to the real size of the bolts

Good for all ratcheting wrench applications

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is probably the best tool iv used to this date. You have no bolt depth limit what so ever. Theres not a tight space you cant get can get in. The gear teeth catch easy and smooth. So far my favorite and Best tool set in my toolbox i recommend this kit to everyone!

The Best if the Best

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent set, I was surprised how light weight the rachets and sockets are, yet still have a very solid and durable feel. I found this helps with hand fatigue, especially when working under a car or on your back.  The switch to change direction is conveniently placed and has a solid click. I have actually been using this set in place of my normal sockets whether I need to passthrough or not.  The handle has a good grip to it and I love that the extensions are passthrough as well. All the sockets are 6 point which is awesome especially since the wrenches have such a tight ratchet to them. Lastly and something that can be overlooked is that the socket sizes are very easy to see on the case and nicely etched on the sockets too.

Light yet Strong

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Never thought I would use these as much as I have. They're actually very useful around the house.  Makes it much easier with some projects. I am a mechanic and have many tight spot in the factory I work in.  These make it quicker to fix the machines.

Unique tool

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This GearWrench GearRatchet Vortex pass-thru set is essential for working lock nuts on shocks or struts.  It is also great for anything that has a long bolt like battery hold downs or bicycle axles.   Basically, this is for anything where a deep socket just isn't long enough. 

The set has two ratchets, two 3” extensions, three quick-release socket adapters and a total of 39 sockets.  The ratchets are 3/8” and 1/4” equivalent and each have a 5 degree swing arc.  The beefy 3/8” ratchet is 8” long and the 1/4” is about 5 3/4” long.  

The Vortex sockets are 6-point, thin walled and closer to stubby in length. They are roll stamped.  The 3/8” sockets range from Metric 10 through 19mm (no skips) and include SAE 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, and 3/4.  The 1/4” sockets include Metric 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6 through 13mm and SAE 5/32, 3/16, 7/32, 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2.

The quick-release socket adapters help you use regular 1/4” and 3/8” sockets. 

Cons: Sometimes the sockets are hard to remove, however you can use another socket or extension to help push it out.  The ratchet handles feel more like hard plastic and could be a softer material.   The socket adapters cannot be used with the extensions. The overall finish of the set could be better.

Essential for suspension work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good quality and finish. Thin wall sockets to get in tighter clearance area. Very good for exhaust v-band clamps. Blow molded case for organization and storage. Would like to see a flex head style ratchet add to the set. Overall very good set to have on hand when needed

Pass through sockets

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of those tools that you don't use everyday but when you need it it's very helpful. Good price point for the range of sizes (10-19mm & 3/8-3/4 in 3/8drive and 3.5-13mm & 5/32-1/2 in 1/4drive) but was a little disappointed it only comes with 2 3” extensions- would have liked to have something a little longer. Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was the ratchets are only 72 tooth and just overall aren't the quality I expect from gearwrench- instead they feel kinda cheap. But like I said it's not an everyday kind tool so overall a good set to have in the arsenal.

Good set to have when you need it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first blush I was crazy happy. I was really impressed with the look and feel of the ratchets. The 1/4 in version has sockets that go as small as 3.5 mm and 5/32 in. As cool as that is, it is a clear overkill. I can't imagne using a ratchet on a nut that small. The ratchets look good and are well made. However the reversing lever is hard to use. Espcially if your hand are wet or greasy. Also when I opened the set new I noticed the protective cover for the gear and pawl was missing on the 3/8 ratchet. I found it in the carry case but it won't stay in. I really like the whole set set in general. I just wish the reversing mechanism was easier to use.
