[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been waiting so long for anyone to come out with ratcheting open end wrenches and these GearWrench ones hit that mark. They work exceptionally well, I was skeptical at first about how well it would grip with high torque and surprisingly held the bolt firmly. The closed ratcheting end is thinner so you can get into those tight areas. Fit, finish and feel are spot on with overpriced high end tools. Highly recommend adding these to your toolbox.

So far I have used these wrenches for working on riding lawnmowers and I have been satisfied. I haven't used extreme force on the open end so I can't say how durable it will be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Typical good quality from GearWrench. This is a nice set with no skips from 8 mm to 19 mm with a good carrying rack that holds the wrenches very well.
The ratcheting action of the open end is a very handy feature for those tighter spots that you cannot get the box end into. Also good for line fittings and threaded pieces where you can't slip a ratchet wrench over the end. 
In all, I would say this is a must have for ratchet options

Love these wrenches!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially when I ordered this 12 Pc. 72-Tooth 12 Point Open End Ratcheting Metric Wrench Set I was hopeful it could become my main set of open end metric wrenches and allow me to carry one or two less sets of wrenches. Unfortunately this set of wrenches is more of a specialty set than an all-purpose set for my uses. That is nothing to detract from the quality or usefulness of the set of wrenches. The main selling point of these wrenches, the ratcheting open end, is also the main reason they cannot -at least for me- be my main everyday wrench set. I'm still pleased I ordered them and they have come in handy a couple times already.

As you'll see from the pictures I posted with my review, the open end of the wrenches uses a really neat ratcheting pawl to accomplish its task. Unfortunately because of the design the wrench can only be used in one direction on the open end. That's fine if your nut or bolt is in a open or unrestricted area. As you will see from the pictures I posted of a standard 10mm Honda battery nut the fact I can only use the wrench in one direction meant I could not flip it over to get access to turn the nut the required small amount to get back to the next set of faces. This made the open end of the wrench unusable in my situation. I ended up just using the closed end to loosen the bolt. This is how I would always do it using my standard set of Gearwrench box wrenches. Not a big deal but it makes this set of wrenches useless for me in that situation as well as a few other situations I have encountered.

I was very happy to see the set includes wrenches all the way down to 8mm. Some auto manufacturers can't seem to move on from the 8mm (looking at you GM). I was also happy to see the set includes a 17, 18 and 19mm. Quite a few of my wrench sets include a 17mm and 19mm but very few of them seem to include the 18mm as well.

When I ordered the wrenches online I expected the orange holder the wrenches came in to be yet another throw away item that just keeps the wrenches looking nice in the store. I was pleasantly surprised to find the holder is actually of pretty sturdy construction. In some areas of my work space I have pegboard and in other parts I have a basic wooden wall that I've put screws in to act as holders for different wrench sets. I was impressed to see gearwrench even took the time to include a spot to hang the wrench set on your pegboard which in my picture is the upper set of indents (in the handle opening) as well as places to put screws through the set (the lower key hole style holes).

Overall a super high quality set of metric ratcheting box wrenches. As the title stated, they are just not as useful as I was hoping they would be.

Great wrenches, just not as useful as hoped

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used these wrenches for about a week now with no issues other than with the open end. I couldn't get the ratcheting action to constantly work on the open end. Which may just be user error and me needing more time using them. However these wrenches are comfortable in the hand and have a nice polished finish to them. The only thing I would change about these is they carry style holder the wrenches come in. I would of preferred a tray or of the holder was offset so it could fit in a toolbox drawer easier.

Great Wrenches

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent wrenches. They work real well if you have a nut that you cannot get the box end on but still need to do a lot of loosening. Generally I always use the closed end of the wrench and only use the open end on a few occasions. But this option gives you the ability to ratchet the open end. Kind of cool. But the only thing I wish is that the wrenches were longer. These are just standard length wrenches, which is fine if you want compact wrenches. I prefer the longer ones for wrenching on vehicles. It seems I have a greater need for more leverage than for the open end to ratchet. But sometimes a compact wrench can be desirable. Also, if your really have a need to torque down on the open end of the wrench this may not be as desirable as a true non ratcheting open end wrench.

Great wrenches. Would give them 4.5 stars

Do NOT buy these unless you enjoy being irritated. The “ratcheting” open end fails more than works. I am a Journeyman Elevator Mechanic so use wrenches every day. Bought these by accident. They got given to the homeless man in the alley.

I Bought the set of SAE and Metric reversible ratcheting wrenches and 2 of them first time I used them the racheting end fell out I sent photos to APEX/Gearwrench wrote a review and they took it down ...
