I have tried various office chairs over the last few years & even added foot rests, but at the end of the day, I was sore & uncomfortable.  Maybe it's the constant tiny movements or maybe it's better posture but I feel great at the end of the day.  I'm also noticing that I don't get the afternoon sleepys.  And on long phone calls, I can bounce, rock, roll around to keep boredom from setting in.  Happy face on this chair!

I'll be honest, I didn't think that I was going to notice too much of a difference, but I have. My back problems have noticeably decreased and I have more energy throughout the day from the constant fidgeting.  I really notice the difference when I sit in a normal chair now, which could actually be a downside, but really I just love this chair so much that I can't help but to give it five stars. I love it. 

So happy and impressed!

At first we ordered the plastic-based chair (in wasabi green!) and I loved it for a long time. Then everyone else started getting them here at work because I rabed about it. Then after a while, one o the wheels came off...the steel bolt didn't last in the soft plastic base. So Gaiam allowed my boss to exchange that broken one with this metal based one which was super cool! I am very satisfied with this chair. I miss the fun wasabi color of my other one, however this one feels more built to last. I love it!

Much better with the metal base

I have had t.he regular chair for several years and it was time for a new one as one of the legs broke where the wheel shaft fits in - still worked, but not rollable. I chose the adjustable one with 5 legs - so I could get the proper height at my desk & the 5 legs allows more mobility. The little back rest, in my opinion, is only good to drape my jacket on - but alas it is a balance ball and will challenge core stability - that is what it is for;-) I am waiting for the stools to come back in stock, as I want to purchase one.

Love the chair

Overall I have been very satisfied with this chair.  I use it at work and it definitely helps me retain good posture while working at my computer.  My only complaint (which I see I'm not the only one), is also the wheel locks that I am constantly hitting with my heels when shifting around, and then find myself  not able to move freely.  It would be much better it it were some sort of hand lock located higher up on the chair base.  Other than that, it's great!

Great Stability Chair

Mom liked my classic chair, which is the only chair I use at my computer (I am so spoiled now that I can't even use a regular office chair), but we thought it might not fit under the keyboard tray of her desk. So I got this one for her. The legs adjust so she can make it low enough to use at her desk, and the ball is a bit bigger in diameter than the one in the classic chair, which will make it easier to use with the included DVD (it's great that it's included in the package!). (I bought the DVD separately for myself - with 3 20-minute workouts with Tanja, and I find that my ball (from the classic chair) is a little more awkward to use for the workouts.) Anyway, Mom is having a ball sitting on the chair and getting her core stronger!

Mom loves it!

I really like my new chair, I have had it for one month now and while I don't necessarily feel my core get's a workout, the chair is a constant reminder to sit up straight and engage my core.  The downside is that the way the 'brakes' are positioned on the 5 legs, through the cours of the day my feet must hit them and at some point my chair resists movement at which point I need to ensure all brake levers are flipped to the 'up position'.

I love my Balance Ball chair. I sit for long hours at my desk and I find my back and body to be much less stiff and sore with the Balance Chair.  I would recommend the chair to anyone. The only problem I have with the chair is the locking tabs on the wheels of the chair base. I am constantly locking them with my feet and having to lean over and unlock them so I can roll the chair when sitting . I would say that Giam should reverse the way the locking tab works. If lock was in the down position I would have no problem at all. I still think this is an awesome chair and love it.

Good

I am using the original ball chair in the past year and a half or two years. It saved my back. I am sitting on a regular chair in the past few months (the bottom part of my ball chair broke) and my back does not like it at all. I have to get another ball chair. Great product!

Lower back saver

Flimsy, not sturdy at all - almost impossible to move it while sitting unless you bounce on the ball, meaning you can't push in your chair while sitting so you have to get it exactly where you want it before sitting because you can't pull it closer to you desk once you sit on it. The back part feels like it's going to fall off once you touch it. I wish I had bought the unadjustable ball chair instead it looks more sturdy.

Flimsy

The wheels on this chair have locks, which is nice, unless you want them unlocked at all times. I found that while sitting at my desk invariably my feet would hit the wheels and lock them. So, I could no longer wheel around until I stood up, bent down and unlocked the wheels. Since I bought this chair to help rehabilitate my back, it is counterproductive to having to keep bending down to the floor...
