I previously owned the Garmin r10 and recently just upgraded to the Garmin r50. Huge difference in the graphics. With 42,000 courses to play it's a no brainer. The graphics are a big upgrade from the Garmin r10. The accuracy on the r50 is a lot more accurate compared to the r10 a well. What I really like most about it is that I don't need to buy a gaming computer, everything is built into the r50. it's just plug and play.

It is so easy to use unlike the Skytrak with which i previously struggled  to connect with my iPad.  There is virtually no delay in finishing swing and getting data. I have so far used it solely for practice mode in the driving range.  Missed data capture exceedingly rare.  Video screen is bright and more than adequate.  Could not be more pleased

Great product

1). The Harmon built in interface is awesome. In my opinion this makes the price extremely reasonable, since I don't need a separate p.c. 
2).
The first few times I used the r50,
I thought it was broken. Every shot went short and left.
I realized several things:
A. The r50 alignment was a tad off
B. My swing (path and face) were off
C. I was hitting each shot a touch fat

The r50 is brutally honest when it comes to ball striking, and it's just what I needed!!!!

Overall this thing is awesome, and I don't get fleeced by filghtscope, and E6 connect any longer!!!

I ordered this with very high expectations

I've had my Approach R50 for about a month, and I have been using it nearly every day.  The ease of use is remarkable - one afternoon I found my 12 year old son was in there hitting balls and had no problem getting it up and running by himself.  I also absolutely love the HomeTown Hero feature.  I've been playing not only local courses, but Pebble Beach, Augusta, and St. Andrews.  I was a little surprised that club distances didn't seem to match what I *thought* I typically hit my clubs, but after reading about 'Indoor Swing Syndrome', and using it more, I feel like the accuracy is pretty good.  Another really cool feature is the automatic synching of the Garmin Golf app to the session data.  So far, I couldn't be happier with the purchase.  I plan to connect to the E6 Apex software at some point in the future, but for now, HTH has been a lot of fun.

So Far, So Good!

I've had the R50 for about 6 weeks. It is an incredible piece of technology. Unreal accuracy and more than enough data to satisfy any golfer. I've done 2 side by side comparisons versus Trackman and the data is spot on. Carry/total distance within 1-3 yards, spin within 200rpm and launch/decent angle identical. The level of accuracy against the Trackman is unreal, I was using ProV1 RCT balls to ensure Trackman was measuring spin and such accurately and the Garmin R50 was matching it shot for shot. The HTH game play is great, I'd like to see an upgrade to the graphics.

I purchased the Approach R50 as I wanted to upgrade from the SkyTrak I'd had for about 8 years.  After about a month of use, I can safely say the Approach R50 suits my needs to a tee.  Versus the SkyTrak, I hardly ever get a misread (even when putting) and the yardages and data seem more accurate and consistent.  The available club and ball data are extensive.  Response time is immediate.  

Home Tee Hero is an excellent simulator for me as I love playing courses I'm familiar with.  My only minor critique to Home Tee Hero is the lack of accuracy in the course surroundings.  For example, cacti are in play on a number of Coachella Valley courses while in fact there are no cacti there, and at my home course, trees are depicted where homes/OB areas exist.  I'm also hopeful courses are added. Maybe 20% to 30% of the courses I regularly play are not available.  But these are nitpicks.  I am thoroughly enjoying the Approach R50.

An Upgrade Over the Original SkyTrak

I bought this unit to upgrade me old golf simulator system and I couldn't be happier.  The biggest feature is I have 2 places to use it which gives me the ability to take it and not have the cost of 2 units.  I love being able to play pretty much all the courses I currently play and ones I wouldn't be able to.   Honestly the upfront costs are expected but the low yearly subscription makes it worth it.

Great Unit

I spontaneously bought the Garmin R50 a month ago. Was waiting on the golf enclosure to dial it in. The overall experience has been amazing. The Garmin is very user friendly, interactive, and is a great way to explore over 43,000 golf courses. The overall rating is 4 out of 5 stars because I'm still trying to figure out the accuracy from the gaming vs reality yardages. I agree with some of the other comments regarding the inaccuracy yardages are between 10-15 yards variance. I've tried to manually compute different elevation and humidity percentages. Still have not been able to dial it in, but I am very hopeful that it is possible. Any suggestions?

Great Features

Works great, easy to use, good graphics

My only complaint is sometime the internal computer lags or glitches. If I try to plug it up to my projector before turning it on the whole thing freezes. 
I've found easy work arounds but hope that gets fixed in upcoming updates!

Great system, well worth the money

Played my first full round today.   It took a bit to get used to.  Iron play was really true to form.  Even putting seemed pretty accurate.   I was have challenges with my driver and woods.   Maybe being indoors made me feel a bit constrained.   I finally managed to get a couple of drives out to 270/280.  The missed were awful.   Fairway woods were tough to elevate.   Something I'll work on am sure will improve over time. Still very excited over the purchase and fully expect my goals will be realized.

Ultimate golf shed

Bought this to a little relaxing golf in the garage.  Club distances are 50-80 short on driver and 3 wood, over 30% of hits aren't recorded making you hit multiple times till it reads the shot and chipping is so far off it's not worth doing.  It also won't read club metrics on chips.  Putts are way off too.  I've updated the software, use new clean white balls, tried six different lighting options and nothing fixed any of the issues.  Will be returning it tomorrow and will get a Foresight instead.
