It’s a perfect runner’s watch.  I love the MIP screen—-always on with superior battery life and daytime visibility.  I am going to be so disappointed when this thing finally needs replacement and garmin only has amoled options with this functionality. Please garmin, keep a reasonably priced mip option for us!

Absolutely purchase. Life is too short not to be able to look back at all the amazing activites you recorded on your watch! I use daily for activites regularly exceeding 2 hours and charge once a week at max. Takes at most an hour to charge to max. Don't go anywhere without it!

Get the watch!

I’ve had this watch for about 3 weeks. I had an instinct and it was great but I wanted something a little fancier. This watch works the same with 5 buttons and tracks well. It works great on outdoor runs and it’s actually pretty accurate on my treadmill, the instinct was usually not in sync with my treadmill. The workout tracking is good for weight training. I like the watch faces but I’d prefer a few more options. It’s comfortable but it doesn’t track my heart rate as well as the instinct. I have tattoos and I know they create an issue. The reason I switched from Apple Watch to Garmin was because of that. The Garmin still tracks my runs while the Apple Watch would pause constantly. Heart rate isn’t a deal breaker for me so the watch still does what I need and I recommend buying it.

Awesome watch

Two weeks of use and I am enjoying the many added features and design improvements compared to my Forerunner 235. Many more display elements, data components, and biometric info. Great battery life. Slight learning curve on finding and using new things, but relatively intuitive. I like the new watch band and color options, too. Overall very happy with this watch.

Lots of features

Are you tech challenged? Want a simple way to track activity right "out of the box"? This watch is IT! I LOVE the design...the graphics are BRIGHT AND LARGE enough to read at an arms length. The function buttons respond instantly! My Venu Sq face would fog up after every run making it hard to use functions. I have been running in 94%+ humidity and have had NO FOG!! I also love the LONG LIFE BATTERY! Wow!!

Look No Further!

Received the watch for Christmas 2023.  I’ve been wearing Garmin running watches for quite some time now, having started with a Forerunner 225, then a Fenix 3HR and my last watch before this one was a 935.  Definitely love the feature set and all of the capability of this watch.  Decided with all that this one can do I didn’t need to go back to a 900 series as I generally don’t use all that it is capable of.  I love the ability to see so many data points (HRV, sleep score, body battery, etc.) directly from the watch.  I’ve also been using the suggested running plan which takes the thoughts out of what run I should do for the day.  Also for those looking for a great watch face, I love Garmin’s Home-Fit Thrill.  So many colors to mix it up and just enough data points.

Perfect Balance of Price vs. Features

I’ve been using the Garmin Forerunner 255 since April 2024. As an active swimmer, this watch has been my daily companion for two years. I’ve always followed the maintenance guidelines, rinsing it in warm fresh water after every single pool session to prevent chlorine buildup.
However, after exactly two years of use, the Start/Stop button has finally developed the dreaded 'sticky button' issue. It no longer has a tactile click and feels stiff compared to the other buttons. I’ve tried the recommended soaking and cleaning methods, but the issue remains.
While the watch excels in tracking and software features, it's a bit disappointing that the hardware starts to fail after 2 years of careful use. It’s a solid device, but frequent swimmers should be aware of potential button longevity issues over time. I have strictly followed all maintenance guidelines, so it's frustrating to face this hardware issue. I would appreciate it if Garmin Support could reach out and help me resolve this, as I really value the brand and this device.

Start/Stop button failed after 2 years of swimming

I need some more time to really get used to this watch, but so far, I'm not happy with it. I used the vivoactive 4 for years and switched to the forerunner because I'm a competitive runner and thought it would be more suitable for a runner. While it does have some extra run specific features, they work terribly and over complicate everything. The track workout feature, for example, worked terribly. After 3 laps it said I was at 1 mile? I saw no feature to adjust the lane. I ended up just switching to regular run mode and using it's lap feature, like I used to on the vivoactive 4. All the extra run training advice and feedback is garbage. It seems to think that any non-aerobic run is bad, and you are always overreaching. I'm a seasoned runner with years of experience, and a solid track record of not getting injured. I can tell you right now, while I am pushing hard, I am not overreaching. The sleep feature is entirely inaccurate. It is consistently a full hour or more below the actual amount of sleep I got. The other night I went to bed at 8:45 and fell asleep fast, slept very well, and woke up at 4. Somehow it thought I didn't get to sleep until 10:05 and it recorded 5:08 hours of sleep? What kind of math is that? It's garbage. The absolute worst part about this watch is how it beeps. I use trainingpeaks software to design my workouts (no, I'm not switching to Garmin, Garmin does not work for advanced training). The vivoactive 4 did fantastic with trainingpeaks workouts. But now, with the forerunner, it beeps at me constantly every time I'm outside of my target range for a workout. It is SO annoying. And as far as I can tell, the beep cannot be disabled. I've searched the web far and wide, even used AI to try to find a way to disable it, and nothing works. This is beyind a bone headed feature on your part. The only upgrades this watch has is a better battery and better heart rate sensor. That's it. Everything else is worse. I used thr vivoactive 4, a watch not even designed for runners, since 2020. That watch was better for a runner in 2020 than this piece of garbahe is today. When we get a new product 6 years later, we expect it to be an improvement. All I want to do is throw it away. You guys should be ashamed of this product. I am never getting any garmin product ever again.
