It helps me work backwards on what creates a good night's sleep.
A better defined notes system (evening vs morning) would help, and perhaps an AI way to summarize notes.
Graphs are sometimes very difficult to understand.

I got this because I'm not a fan of sleeping with my watch on, it can be uncomfortable and wake me up if I try to sleep in with my notifications. Having this on while I'm sleeping also tracks if my body temp goes up. In the morning when I wake up I sync it to my app and put my watch on.

Epix gen 2 owner and the Sleep Monitor is much more comfortable to wear at night - it does its job well.

Would love to see some new features added
* In addition to setting alarms for specific times, would love to see the ability to set alarms for specific amounts of time - say 30 min for a nap, or 8 hours regardless of what time it is when I go to bed.  (Thinking out loud - not just by wake-up time (7am) or length of time (8 hours), but by sleep need - Garmin connect has the information so why can't you determine when the user falls asleep and then calculate the right time to wake up?)
* Would love to see quick alarms that you can set once and then disappear after the alarm goes off - not every alarm needs to be saved.

Very comfortable HW - Addl SWFunctionality needed

Very comfortable, way more comfortable than wearing my Tactix for sleep data(which I've done for 2.5 years now). It seems more accurate/reliable so far and battery life has been great I charge it maybe once a week and could probably get 10 days out of it. 

Would have been 5 stars but I can't figure out how to get it to track using the sleep index and not have the watch override the data without placing the watch in battery saver mode every night. I should be able to take my watch off, put sleep index on and it realize there's no data coming from my watch but if I don't put my watch in battery saver mode when I wake up it will say no sleep data even if I wore the sleep index. Not a big issue just a slight inconvenience and annoyance.

Improved sleep tracking

In general, I like the Index Sleep Monitor as it is more comfortable than wearing my Approach S70 watch while sleeping. One slightly annoying thing is that it takes a lot longer to sync its data to the Connect phone app in the morning compared to the watch. It would be even more useful if you could add the feature of getting notifications from my iPhone like the watch. I am hard of hearing and can hardly hear anything when I take my hearing aids out to sleep. It would be great for the sleep monitor to vibrate when I get a phone or facetime call on my phone.

Good device, could use some additional features.

I love the form factor and ability to get me sleep data without having to wear an uncomfortable watch overnight. However, the device frequently has issues where Garmin connect seems to forget it or random nights that sleep data just doesn't sync and that's why i'm only giving 3 of 5.

Better than a watch for sleeping

Bought the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor because I wanted to track sleep without wearing a watch and stay in the Garmin ecosystem (otherwise I probably would have gone with the Oura Ring).

Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing so far. Pretty often the sleeve fails to record sleep entirely. I pay attention to fit, sensor position, placement, etc., and I still end up with a couple of failed nights per week.

The most frustrating part is the lack of meaningful feedback when it fails — there's little to no explanation about what went wrong, so it's hard to improve consistency.

To be fair, it's very comfortable and unobtrusive when it works, which is exactly what I wanted. But in my case the reliability just hasn't been there. Overall I'm disappointed and, based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend it.

Comfortable but Too Inconsistent to Recommend

Super finicky about connecting and it's gotten worse over time. I've had to delete the connection to my phone almost regularly in the past month or so. 
Connecting should be automatic and it doesn't do that consistently. Almost not worth it as I have a Fenix 8 as well. I'm wondering why I spent the money on it

Crappy connection consistency

Long time Garmin user, 15+ years. I had high hopes for this device, took a chance due to mixed reviews and think it's a dud. Tracking is less reliable than my Fenix 8 pro or Epix gen 2. Both of those watches are large so I was looking for something easier to sleep with that produced more reliable sleep tracking. 50% of the time it stops tracking after about 3-4 hours. Device is fully charged and fit correctly on my arm. I paid full price only to see it popping up on sale everywhere right after. Disappointed, save your $ and consider an alternative.

Not worth the money

I've had the sleep monitor for a week - and it has not once gathered sleep data. 2/7 nights it collected heart rate - which my watch could already do. I have experimented with syncing, turning off my water, etc - nothing has worked. The sleep monitor issues are part of a larger weakness in the Garmin eco system. 

I am probably a couple days from sending it back. The device should be pretty simple - gather data from a direct reading and send it to the paired phone. If you are looking for a product that does what it advertises with no hassle - this is not for you. 

Whence someone figures this out - I will gladly delete this review.
