Overall, this is a solid indoor trainer. The direct drive is easy to set up with the necessary adapters for any axle. Better feel than any roller system. It only replicates grades below 10% but for where I live, it's suitable. This is heavy and the cord is not very long, so make sure you have room near an outlet. This is one of the more quiet trainers I've tried. The Bluetooth can be spotty, but I haven't had too many issues. I ended up buying a new cassette and putting it on my bike, and used that cassette for the trainer. Overall, it's a good way to get through the winter months (or rainy days.)

Tacx Flux S Indoor Trainer

Very quiet compared to other trainers I have used before. I'm still very new to biking compared to my fellow athletes I train with. However with everyone's collective advise I bought this trainer and have been extremely pleased. I still have a lot to learn but am excited for to see how much more comfortable I can become with the bike and happy to be building up my strength level!

I bought one of these and it was affordable and very functional. It was whisper quiet, unlike some of its competitors...so much so that I could watch movies while riding :) Over all a great product for the money. Pairs up well with various apps, too.

This trainer has been great for me. I really like to be able to ride my own bike during the winter time. Instead of having to ride one at the gym. I does take a little time to get it set up. You need to have an extra cassette or take the one off your wheel.
The reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the software it uses. I have only tried the Garmin software and I do like it. But,I have experienced a couple times where it had a hard time connecting. The other problem was that I thought the subscription price was too high. If you're not worried about price then great. I really like it while I had the free trial.

Trainer is great, software could be cheaper.

I am training for an IronMan and wanted a trainer I could use with programs such as swift.  I trust my GPS accuracy to Garmin, so I thought this would be a great addition.
Obviously, this is better than my fluid trainer which didn't have any smart features.
From time to time, I find that the trainer becomes disconnected from my apps and a 'ghost' version of the trainer needs to be connected.
This usually corrects itself after one use, but it can be problematic when i'm in a time crunch and don't really want to spend time messing with bluetooth.
When I initially set up the trainer, ERG mode didn't seem to work, but it does..and wow, it works well.
I think the ERG mode is what keeps this a high rating.

The Tacx app is good.  Is simple and no frills (utilitarian?) and it gets the job done.  I think I like it as a free service and may use Tacx when my zwift membership runs out.

Certainly, a step up from fluid

As a first-time buyer of a wheel-off trainer, upgrading from the Tacx Flow, I wish I had dug a little deeper prior to purchase. May seem obvious to more experienced riders, but you need to buy an additional cassette, and the installation tools when purchasing this unit, which adds to the cost. Besides that, installation and setup were easy. I haven't been on it a ton, but it works great when set up to Zwift.

Do your research

This trainer is perfectly fine for indoor workouts, though I will say I had one issue on the 5th or 6th ride where one of the pawls of the freehub body broke off and brought things to a grinding halt. Took it apart and found that it was preventing the system from freewheeling. Reached out to Garmin and they replaced it with a new freehub body no questions asked- and very quickly, I might add.

This was the perfect addition to the training arsenal!
Not having to adjust for slope or power. Getting data instantly and being able to complete a workout without thinking.. its just like riding a bike!
I highly recommend a smart trainer for everyone that bikes.
If your new to mountain biking here's a few key features I've found help with making the purchase. First, these machines maintain its value. Second, it will help with learning proper shifting in a controlled environment that will help with those awkward Rooty climbs or short steeps after a corner. Third, you'll look like a hero when the season starts and your fitness is better then your friends!!!

Smart training for dummies

after purchasing this trainer i attempted to install my giant tcr road bike and found the disc brake mount rested on the above the quick realase axel, and i was not able to get the bike set on the squewer. i looked on the forums and it seems to be a very very normal problem so much so that most garmin models come with an adapter. mine did not come with an adapter but after a short call i had one sent out by garmin pretty quick. overall the trainer is really nice once i had the adapter installed. smoother than any other trainer around this price range and way easier to set up with my garmin ecosystem.

Directions are not clear and I'm still having a hard time tuning my drive train while on the bike
