These oil-based Gel Topcoats and Stains are quite possibly the easiest of all finishes to use and achieve a "hand-rubbed" look without all the work. Application is easy with a foam brush or lint free cloth. The heavy bodied gel formulation permits the product to flow out evenly (no drips or runs) preventing uneven penetration for consistent color control. Combined with no sanding (your choice to sand or not) between coats and a quick are-coata time youall be finished sooner with less effort and better results than ever before.

Great stain for any type of coverage. Ease on, off and can control the amount of coverage. Love General finishers. Used the Java color on my bathroom vanity years ago and still looks new. Using the black this round for my daughters vanity  Great brand.  Dont  need much cover. Note, when storing extra, put plastic on the top of the stain inside to keep the top layer from drying out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Selected the black gel stain for my project. Purchased both one pint and one quart to be sure I havve enough stain. Using this on a brown-stained wood banister, hoping to darken the wood to black or dark brown/black color. Product goes on smoothly, yet after two coats the color still looks streaky and patchy in many areas. Banister was cleaned and lightly sanded before application. Product has been allowed to dry 24hrs in between coats, so I think I have followed the directions fairly well. I do like the product but I am still working to get the right coverage. 3rd coat goes on today so hoping for the best.
