Love the idea of being able to hang a heavier bike (max 50lbs) off the gear track. The claw works and it's a great design.

However, this claw isn't quite big enough to hold the front wheel & tire of my husband's Specialized mountain bike and it just barely will accommodate my Trek bike.  It's hard to balance the bike with one hand while I'm trying to fit the tire into the claw and push the retraction button to close it.  Getting it out is a snap!

Now my husband just hangs his road bike in there and we call it a day.  Back to floor racks for our heavy mountain bikes.  I think Gladiator has figured out a solution for perpendicular bike storage, the design just needs to be refined a bit.

We have used this before and ordered them again. Just don't hang them too high so it's hard to get the bike up. Work great to get the bikes off of the floor.

Bike storage easy to use

Unfortunately, this really only works for older mountain bike wheels/rims/tires and road bikes. With today's larger wheels, wider rims and wider tires, the arms are just too short to reach underneath the entire rim and grasp the bike. My family rides 27.5" wheel mountain bikes with 2.25" to 2.5" tires 35mm to 45mm rims. I am hoping for a V4.0 that will address this issue. For now, all new mountain bikes are having to sit on the garage floor underneath an empty gladiator wall track.

Almost!

This is a great product concept, and I have two in my garage. Like almost all of the reviews state, however, it is simply too small for modern plus sized (2.8-3.0 inch) mountain bike tires... much less 4-5 inch fat tires. The corporate responses claim to value feedback, so why hasn't the product been improved in all the years it's been available? A slightly wider hook design seems like a straightforward thing to design!?

Too small!!!

I have had the same experience as other reviewers.  This hook is a good concept, but does not reach around and under large mountain bike wheels.  I have a mountain bike with 3" rims, and this hook will not close.  So the idea is good, but it's useless for me.  If Gladiator would get to it and address this glaring problem, I would buy an updated version.

Doesn't Work With Large Mountain Bike Wheels

I love my gladiator garage set up but the bike mount isn't perfect! It holds the bike securely but is a pain to actually fit the tire in the claws. If you have road bikes or older bikes that don't have actual real mountain bike tires then this will work perfectly for you! But if you have any legit off road tires it won't fit and you will have to fudge with the claws to make it work. It's a pain but still works and that's with a 2.25 on skinny rims or 2.5 on wider rims. In short please update this product because it's so close to being perfect! I would actually pay twice over to have a product that really works!

Love it but needs improvement!!!

I have two pairs of these.  They worked for older bikes but my wife just bought a new bike and the hooks don't close fully.  The tires are only 2.4" wide which the hooks are supposedly rated for but the hooks lack the DEPTH to allow them to fully close.

It's really sad looking at feedback on this page as old as 4 years old to this effect with a canned response from Gladiator about how they are looking into it.  You've got customers invested in your Gear Wall systems and then you are leaving them hanging out to dry when it comes to evolving your product to stay up with the market.  That's not right.  It's not like you are selling one off products here, it's an entire system.

Discouraging to see the lack of action on feedback

I have a garage full of gladiator equipment, and the company is ignoring the multiple requests going back 3 years (just read older the reviews) to redesign this product to fit modern mountain bikes. This works great but only for road bikes and older or kids mountain bikes. It is useless for most newer adult mountain bikes because the claws are just slightly too small to clear the deeper rims and/or wider tires.

All of the recent reviews are "incentivized" so maybe take those with a grain of salt. I cannot recommend this product until they respond to this issue. It has been years of asking by many people and all we hear are crickets......We need V4.0!

Seems great. Felt a little flimsier than I was expecting but as I've used it am convinced it's solid.
