My gopro shattered while using this during a dive this past weekend. I've used it scuba diving a handful of times and never had any issues, until now. The sim card inside my gopro exploded as well, so I lost so much valuable footage. Use with caution.

My first GoPro was the Black 3 Hero. It came with its own case which was rugged and quite thick--very impressive. The new case for the Hero 8 Black is similar to the generic Chinese cases you buy from various vendors, but with one major difference: It costs much more. I was very disappointed when I received the case because I was expecting one similar to the one that came with the 3. However, I don't know if it's better underwater than the generic ones, so it would be wise to test it should you decide to go with a 3rd party vendor.

Generic case

Received as a gift. Took it on a trip to Roatan and it was broken on the first day after 2 dives. The retaining clip that holds the power button in the case came loose and the button fell out. If I hadn't caught it before the 3rd dive the case would have flooded and destroyed the camera.

Lasted 2 dives

Used the enclosed housing while floundering on a guided flounder trip. I wish I would have worn ear protection while on this boat that uses a loud air motor to hunt for the flounder. The enclosure was put to the test & passed with barely any noise on the recorded fishing trip.

Fishin' In The Dark ...

The case arrived soon after I placed my order. I found the case easy to use, allowing me to place my camera inside or remove it from the case without any difficulty. I made a number of dives to depths averaging 30 metres, no leaks and no condensation in the case. Very pleased with it. Wish I could say the same for the go pro app.

The case is good, nice and small and it makes a tight seal which is handy for diving. The thing that it's missing though is a place to put a wrist strap so it doesn't end up in the deep. It would also be nice if they had some sort of instructions with it that listed when you can use the skeleton back vs the full back. I would like to have access to the touch screen when diving (reason I bought this) but without any guidance As to which one to use I'm going to error on the side of caution and use the full back.
