This silly hippo sent my 4 year old toddler into fits of giggles. She loved the intrigue of cranking the handle to make him chew and waiting for the very moment when he would swallow the coins and let out a big rude burp. I'll have to admit he made me laugh too. This is a well constructed and sturdy toy. It's made out of rugged colorful plastic and despite her rough treatment the hippo remained intact. This is a very cute and fun toy that I recommend highly.

now it's only been used once to see how the game is played and to make sure it works. even though it's rather silly it's creative.  the hippo when it burps expels a green looking mist. (that is creatively caused by a little green light inside it's mouth and a light mist of water) first you have to put water inside as the directions instruct you to. But before that though use a screw driver to insert 3 AAA batteries underneath the hippo. ours was not broken upon arrival and appears to be made sturdy. we were very happy that it was on clearance because normally games are quite expensive. remember to remove the water from hippo before you put it back in storage. and to turn the game off so as to not waste the batteries. I  expect it might cause you're kids to giggle. It will be a budget friendly birthday present. I read one review saying their's didn't work. so I would make sure it worked before having the kids play. Don't want to get their hopes up IF it were defective. not sure how long it will last but if you follow the instruction manual you probably will think it's a good purchase. it is designed for 4 year olds. spoiler alert. the hippo's burp does not actually smell. but the hippo does make chewing noises when the crank is turned.

very creative and easy to play I think

Love this game. Good for kids all ages. It does leak onto the coins sometimes and it messes them up, so that's a negative. But we play this all the time
