It was to big, I had to return it. I like the storage in the step!

I bought this step to replace the older step I use to enter my hot tub. While this step is large enough, there are several points I think you may want to consider before purchasing this item.
1. The hinge on this product is a thin metal dowel that slides thru a rather large opening . therefore, when you open the top, you have a lot of "play" in the lid - It just doesn't feel sturdy.
2. There are no end caps to hold the hinge dowel in place. I ended up duct taping the ends to keep the metal dowel from sliding out.
3. The overall construction of this step is injected plastic. The finish work is just not what I would expect for the price I paid. There was excess plastic along the edges where the pieces were not closely trimmed when removed from the mold for example.
4. The grooved surface seems like a good idea, but the groves are so deep, if you stand on it very long the groves begin to hurt your feet.

If this would have been a $29.95 product, I think I could have overlooked the imperfections. But for close to $90.00, I expected more.
