I have an older TV model (I believe 2015 or 14) and I love how this chromecast turned it to a smart TV, well, sort of. The remote control is very useful but needed to learn how to use it with the apps, didn't take long though. 
The initial setup was fully guided and clear I guess even without technical background you will not have an issue following the instructions. 
You can link your streaming services subscriptions easily and can install other streaming apps, and some games.

This is an amazing streaming device that hooks up to the google home environment, is very speedy and has the responsivness you'd expect from a Google product. I bought several more I was so impressed! Highly recommended!!!

The goods were perfect. But the delivery time was too long. It took almost two weeks to get there from the east coast to the west coast.Besides, why is blue always out of stock? I hope I can buy blue.

Super slow delivery time

I have been very pleased for the most part with my recent purchase with the new Chromecast With Google TV built right in.

Great ribbon-ish carousel-like content layout, customization of the screen is offered as well.  The content layout makes it very easy to decide on whatever you want to watch very, very quickly at a glance or limited scrolling.  Great option especially if you are very tired or impatient. 

The 3 offered colors allow for color coding besides being aesthetically pleasing.  With more than 1 dongle, you will not get them mixed up!

I activated both of them for WiFi use originally as Google's own Ethernet Adapter and separately purchased  Ethernet Cable did not arrive at the same time as the devices did.  Even so, the playback was still snappily responsive with the devices own 2 gigabytes RAM.  I chose to manually type in my WiFi credentials and password via remote rather than having a smartphone or computer do it.   When the Ethernet Adapter arrived, here was the improved specs:   AT

Far More Bang For Your Fewer Hard Earned Bucks!

Love this device. Very easy to install, just plug it in. Found that new batteries made the remote work better than the ones that came with it. Also, plugging the power into the TV USB made it not turn on all the time. Changing it to plugging into the wall outlet made it work first time, every time. It allowed me to uninstall the apps I don't want, and install all the apps I do want very easily. Making my 15 year old TV into a smart TV! Also connects to my computer with ease, just click on "cast" on my Chrome search screen (Listed under Google Account at right upper corner of screen). 
  Later bought an Android TV with Chromecast built-in. So I don't need the external plug-in device anymore, but I use it anyway. Since this device remote is easier to navigate than the one that came with the TV. 
I have the Android TV connected to Ethernet, and this Google Chromecast connected to WIFI so I can use either one. Both seem to work just as good.

Made my very own smart TV, Love it!

I absolutely loved my old Chromecast and couldn't wait to get this one set up! Took me over 2 hours to finish the set up, half the time nothing works, just shows a black screen, but you can hear sound, lags worse than anything I've seen before, and doesn't start on the episode you left off on, just starts back at the beginning and doesn't show you have watched anything. I would not recommend spending money on this at all!
