I purchased the Nest Thermostat while away from my home as I was told the Air Conditioning was not working. So I had to return early to see what the problem was. It was that the Air Conditioner had not reached the temperature that it was set on. Now I can just pull up my Nest to check on things and not have to cut my trips short anymore. . Works great and easy set up. Thanks

Thermostat

The cheaper brother to the learning thermostat comes with all the basic features that most people would probably need - scheduling, preset modes, automatic home and away modes based on GPS, and even motion detection in case there are family members in your house that are not registered with your Google Home app while your GPS senses you are away. Before purchasing, be sure to check for compatibility with your HVAC system using the online compatibility checker. Installation is very easy with step by step instructions in the Home app. Aesthetics are subjective, but my opinion is that this thermostat looks more attractive than the harsh brushed aluminum of the learning thermostat. Note the front face is a mirror finish and that the screen behind it is visible when lit up and does not span the entire diameter of the thermostat.

More cost efficient with all necessary features

I love the look and feel of my new Nest Thermostat, install was easy and straight forward with lots of support via Google and YouTube on this product. My one issue is the sense function isn't working like I'd like, but I'm sure it's something simple just haven't had the time to look into it. I love the integration into the Home app, this is the reason I got this version instead of the 3rd gen Learning Thermostat.

Near Perfect

We love the thermostat. It is so handy changing temperatures when your in the basement or in bed at night. Need to fan to run for 15 mins to cool down before bed? Easy peasy. It keeps track of everything and you do not have to use every feature to really take advantage of what it can do for you. I think every house should have one.

Best purchase for our new house

Quite easy to install and set up. Would have given 5* as I don't see how to use Presence Setting as I was under impression that ECO setting would kick in if we left the house with cell phones. Could not find anything in help docs to set this up. This would be an awesome feature to have as temp would be reduced when no-one is home. All the other functionalities of the Nest are fantastic and I highly recommend it.

Nest Gen 4

I love my thermostat and I love being able to change the temperature with the app and set schedules. I do find however, that the app could be easier to use, specifically updating schedules that were created when you first set up your thermostat. I find some of the habits I thought would make sense I'd like to change. I consider myself good with technology but the app can be hard to figure out asides from just simply changing the temperature.

Great thermostat, app could be better

This is a great thermostat for the price, and does what I need it to do, but as someone that has had previous versions of NEST thermostats in other homes, I find that going through the Google HOME app to control it is complicating something that used to be super easy. In previous versions I would pull up the NEST app and immediately start controlling the thermostat, but now I have to pull up the Google HOME app, and scroll through all of my google home devices to find the thermostat and then gain control. It isn't that complicate, but it was definitely easier before. Other than that, I would have given the product 5 stars.

I miss the NEST app...

Initial setup was made easy with the step by step instructions on the app. I like the schedules that are easy to set up and that it goes on Eco Mode when it senses that I'm away. It doesn't connect to my Alexa which has been annoying and keeps disconnecting to from my Google Home app so I've had to set it back up a few times.

Good, but not great

Well installing this was a pain. I could not install it into my home in the Google Home app. It kept getting stuck on connecting to my wifi. I called Google support and they also could not get it installed into my home where all my displays, speakers, light bulbs, smart plugs etc. are setup. They had me create a new home and install the thermostat into this new home. It works this way however it's annoying as presence detecting doesn't always work for both homes when I leave the house with my cell phone! It should work properly in only one home I think! Not sure how to fix this so I am using it as is for now.

Nest Thermostat

I Bought The Nest Thermostat E And Hoped It Would Be As Easy If An Install As Was Mentioned In Every Ad I Had Seen. But After Taking Off My Own Thermostat I Found Out I Infact Needed A C Wire Adapter To Have It Working (my wall only has 2 wires coming out).So I Bought One And Then Found Out I Needed To Install It Right At My Furnace Which Wasn't Indicated Anywhere (I thought it could be connected next to the thermostat itself). So, Instead Of Going That Route I Decided To Use A Power Adapter And Have It Plugged Into My Wall That's Located Near My Thermostat. I Had To Find A 24V Power Supply And Wire It Directly Into The Nest Thermostat Along With The Wires Coming Out Of My Wall. After Trial And Error And ALOT Of Back And Forth From My Breaker Box To My Thermostat I Finally Have It Up And Running. It Works Amazing Once Installed And Running Correctly.

Isn't As Easy For Some As It Is For Others

I love this device when it is working, but my experience has been plagued with constant problems.Originally I could only install it in FRENCH, I could live with this, and did for a few months - but then it received an update and things are becoming more and more annoying. Now it constantly disconnects from my network (and google home) which requires me to either reboot it or in some cases do an entire factory reset which is a very annoying process (and includes having to re-identify all of the wires that are used for my HVAC system).I am very close to removing this and reinstalling my 15 year old thermostat.

Constant Issues

Google Nest Thermostat Chalk programmable smart thermostat, compact rounded-rectangle wall-mounted unit in matte chalk white, front-facing view showing touchscreen and touch ring; Wi‑Fi 802.11b/g/n 2.4 GHz and 802.11a/n 5 GHz, ENERGY STAR certified, remote control via Google Home app. Often used as a room temperature monitor for a home office.
