Bought the basic model to replace a different high end unit. The old unit was off by 4 degrees either way and no amount of adjustments worked. Hooked the nest up and set it and was amazed at the performance. Great unit simple to install and more.importantly it works.

Nest thermostat

I've only installed the new nest thermostat a month ago and it works just like a thermostat should. It reads the ambient air temperature and tells my HVAC system when to activate and when to deactivate. How it works when in AC mode, I don't know. Time will only tell.

Pressured to submit review

Easy to use, easy to mount and set up. But... even with all the ability to learn the user's behavior and with all the features, I had to clear the schedule and pre-sets because it wasn't holding the temperatures, especially at night. So, now everything its on manual mode where I set the temperatures on the wall or on my phone.

Almost great... almost.

Easy installation and set up. Works great in every way, however, my biggest disappointment was finding out the temperature sensors used to sense temp in other rooms are not compatible. They only work with the learning thermostat and the E versions. Big disappointment when buying what I thought was the newest product.

Nest Thermostat

I Bought The Nest Thermostat E And Hoped It Would Be As Easy If An Install As Was Mentioned In Every Ad I Had Seen. But After Taking Off My Own Thermostat I Found Out I Infact Needed A C Wire Adapter To Have It Working (my wall only has 2 wires coming out).So I Bought One And Then Found Out I Needed To Install It Right At My Furnace Which Wasn't Indicated Anywhere (I thought it could be connected next to the thermostat itself).So, Instead Of Going That Route I Decided To Use A Power Adapter And Have It Plugged Into My Wall That's Located Near My Thermostat. I Had To Find A 24V Power Supply And Wire It Directly Into The Nest Thermostat Along With The Wires Coming Out Of My Wall.After Trial And Error And ALOT Of Back And Forth From My Breaker Box To My Thermostat I Finally Have It Up And Running. It Works Amazing Once Installed And Running Correctly.

Isn't As Easy For Some As It Is For Others

One step closer to bring my home smart. It looks nice. It is easy to operate. Very simple installation process if you spend some time with videos available. Too early to comment on operational performance and savings $$$. I like it. The batteries came with the Nest were not rechargeable. Within the space of three weeks I had to replace twice.

Looks really nice, it is on cloud now

Everything from the install process, to set up went great as expected. The reason for the mediocre review is that it is only accessible through Google Home vs. the Nest App, the former of which is quite a bit inferior. Please allow this thermostat and the new Nest cameras to be accessible via the Nest app.

I hooked up the 4 wires and the nest did not worked properly and had an error message and the heat in the house was not working, so instead of freezing, I hooked up my old thermostat. So I guess I have to hire an electrician to install 4 wires. I am pretty good with electrical and especially with 4 wires. So I believe the nest is not user friendly

I love this device when it is working, but my experience has been plagued with constant problems.Originally I could only install it in FRENCH, I could live with this, and did for a few months - but then it received an update and things are becoming more and more annoying.Now it constantly disconnects from my network (and google home) which requires me to either reboot it or in some cases do an entire factory reset which is a very annoying process (and includes having to re-identify all of the wires that are used for my HVAC system).I am very close to removing this and reinstalling my 15 year old thermostat.

Constant Issues

Gone through 2 units now. Both work great for a few days or weeks. Then they show insane ambient temperatures of 45C/120F. Units are correctly mounted away from vents and sun. The units clearly have a defect and generate their own heat. Google suspects it could be the wifi chip but hasn't figured it out yet.
