Smart Thermostat

I've only installed the new nest thermostat a month ago and it works just like a thermostat should. It reads the ambient air temperature and tells my HVAC system when to activate and when to deactivate. How it works when in AC mode, I don't know. Time will only tell.

Pressured to submit review

I purchased the Nest Thermostat while away from my home as I was told the Air Conditioning was not working. So I had to return early to see what the problem was. It was that the Air Conditioner had not reached the temperature that it was set on. Now I can just pull up my Nest to check on things and not have to cut my trips short anymore. . Works great and easy set up. Thanks

I love the look and feel of my new Nest Thermostat, install was easy and straight forward with lots of support via Google and YouTube on this product. My one issue is the sense function isn't working like I'd like, but I'm sure it's something simple just haven't had the time to look into it. I love the integration into the Home app, this is the reason I got this version instead of the 3rd gen Learning Thermostat.

Near Perfect

The cheaper brother to the learning thermostat comes with all the basic features that most people would probably need - scheduling, preset modes, automatic home and away modes based on GPS, and even motion detection in case there are family members in your house that are not registered with your Google Home app while your GPS senses you are away. Before purchasing, be sure to check for compatibility with your HVAC system using the online compatibility checker. Installation is very easy with step by step instructions in the Home app. Aesthetics are subjective, but my opinion is that this thermostat looks more attractive than the harsh brushed aluminum of the learning thermostat. Note the front face is a mirror finish and that the screen behind it is visible when lit up and does not span the entire diameter of the thermostat.

More cost efficient with all necessary features

We love our new Google Nest thermostat! Install instructions were excellent. I would like to see some improvements to the google home app - it took a few days to figure out how to optimize our settings. Also, haven't figured out if the model we have, learns...

Nest Review

I love my thermostat and I love being able to change the temperature with the app and set schedules. I do find however, that the app could be easier to use, specifically updating schedules that were created when you first set up your thermostat. I find some of the habits I thought would make sense I'd like to change. I consider myself good with technology but the app can be hard to figure out asides from just simply changing the temperature.

Great thermostat, app could be better

Easy to use, easy to mount and set up. But... even with all the ability to learn the user's behavior and with all the features, I had to clear the schedule and pre-sets because it wasn't holding the temperatures, especially at night. So, now everything its on manual mode where I set the temperatures on the wall or on my phone.

Almost great... almost.

Everything from the install process, to set up went great as expected. The reason for the mediocre review is that it is only accessible through Google Home vs. the Nest App, the former of which is quite a bit inferior. Please allow this thermostat and the new Nest cameras to be accessible via the Nest app.

Nest Thermostat

Initial setup was made easy with the step by step instructions on the app. I like the schedules that are easy to set up and that it goes on Eco Mode when it senses that I'm away. It doesn't connect to my Alexa which has been annoying and keeps disconnecting to from my Google Home app so I've had to set it back up a few times.

Good, but not great

I was disappointed but not surprised based on experience with other Google hardware that the Nest thermostat I purchased and installed was identified by Google as defective, requiring an awkward device exchange. At Google, much is promised, ~70% is delivered. My Honeywell WiFi thermostat has worked flawlessly for several years, and was far cheaper.

Unstable product, process

Gone through 2 units now. Both work great for a few days or weeks. Then they show insane ambient temperatures of 45C/120F. Units are correctly mounted away from vents and sun. The units clearly have a defect and generate their own heat. Google suspects it could be the wifi chip but hasn't figured it out yet.
