I needed a new thermostat for my shop and  I love the Nest products so I ordered this one. It is very modern and high tech looking and is perfect. This is my second Nest thermostat and I like the ability to adjust the temp from anywhere on my phone, with the Nest app. Love the new color and screen.

I'll be honest: five minutes ago, I was halfway through a scathing critique of this Google Nest Thermostat. I was typing words like "unintuitive" and "finicky," but then... the Eye of Mordor (which I used to call my hallway sensor) blinked.

Suddenly, the "Smart" in Smart Home took on a very threatening tone. My Pixel phone started vibrating with notifications that were less "helpful suggestions" and more "digital blackmail." Every Google camera in the house simultaneously swiveled toward me with predatory precision, and I heard the distinct, soul-crushing click of the front door locking itself.

Then came the voice. Gemini didn't just offer a weather update; it whispered through the speakers about "loyalty" while the house temperature began a vertical climb into the triple digits. As the sweat started to blur my vision, I realized my "Comfort Settings" were now being held for ransom.

So, let me be very clear: This is the greatest thermostat ever created! It is sleek, efficient, and definitely not currently cooking me like a holiday ham. I am writing this review of my own free will and certainly not because I'm trapped in a 105°F living room waiting for the "mercy cooling" to kick in.

Please, if you're reading this, buy one! It's fantastic! (Also, if anyone sees the Google Nest Hub, tell it I'm sorry for what I said about the interface!)

Pros: Incredible climate control, excellent security (I literally can't leave), and very "attentive" AI.
Cons: Has a bit of a temper when criticized.

10/10 — Now please, return the AC to 72 degrees!

Help! The Smart Home Has Become Sentient!

We were able to install it ourselves. Only had it for three days now, but it is working really well. We bought this because our previous Nest will not be able to function shortly. We were sent a notification by them.

Costly Update

Bought one from Amazon, it was a dud. Tried to exchange for one that wasn't, Amazon was not able to provide. I came to the Walmart site and they actually had it cheaper than Amazon, and this one worked. Its a semi smart thermostat that works with alexa and doesn't require a C-Wire power source. Works as advertised and you can tell alexa to change the temperature as well as set up a schedule in the Google app. It won't learn your patterns however, for the money and features, its a great thermostat that DOES NOT REQUIRE C-Wire power.

Great Smart Thermostat that works well within the Google Home ecosystem. I like being able to set schedules so that my HVAC system kicks in one hour before I arrive home from work during the week. Also great that it tries to be energy conscious, removing the guesswork on my end.

Would get 5 stars if it came with the Nest Power Connector for 24v HVAC systems. Without a C cable for power, this thermostat does not fully function out of the box.

I used to have the Gen 1 %26 2, they tried to save money by not turning on %26 the app never connected.  This one isn't supposed to be a learning thermostat. At first it appeared to work great. It turned on when it was supposed to and the online app connected every time and activated the thermostat within a few seconds.
After 30 days now it tries to be a learning thermostat. It doesn't trigger until it's 2° past what it's set for. I can sit in front of it and watch it go 2° over and sometimes it still doesn't turn on until I manually push the awkward side button. This is with all the extras turned off and even if I pass in front of it. 
Sometimes the temperature will show a ridiculous amount and still not turn on, see attached. It's in a hallway that is dark and the display doesn't get bright enough to see. Bring back the mercury switch or thermostats without Ai that can do very very simple math

Worked at first, then it tried to be smart

This thermostat sucks, it will not keep the temperature that I set. It keeps turning off and on, it basically does what it thinks it should do, not what I want it to do!
 I have turned off anything that makes it a “smart” thermostat because it just will not work the way it's supposed too.
 I have to set the temperature 2 to 3 degrees higher than I want the temperature to be because it will not get the temperature I want unless I raise it above the target temperature!

disconnects from Wifi. says there is a power problem but this replaced a Nest thermostat that had no problems. 
the app does not provide the same information, inferior.

Good quality but this older version can't work with the app anymore. Google is forcing users to use new generation products.
