The cheaper brother to the learning thermostat comes with all the basic features that most people would probably need - scheduling, preset modes, automatic home and away modes based on GPS, and even motion detection in case there are family members in your house that are not registered with your Google Home app while your GPS senses you are away. Before purchasing, be sure to check for compatibility with your HVAC system using the online compatibility checker. Installation is very easy with step by step instructions in the Home app. Aesthetics are subjective, but my opinion is that this thermostat looks more attractive than the harsh brushed aluminum of the learning thermostat. Note the front face is a mirror finish and that the screen behind it is visible when lit up and does not span the entire diameter of the thermostat.

More cost efficient with all necessary features

Got it recently as an upgrade to an out of date thermostat and are so far having no issues. We enjoy smart devices in our house and Google's thermostat is no different, it's very helpful to have access to your thermostat from different areas of your house / when you are not home!

Working as intended

I've only installed the new nest thermostat a month ago and it works just like a thermostat should. It reads the ambient air temperature and tells my HVAC system when to activate and when to deactivate. How it works when in AC mode, I don't know. Time will only tell.

Pressured to submit review

I purchased the Nest Thermostat while away from my home as I was told the Air Conditioning was not working. So I had to return early to see what the problem was. It was that the Air Conditioner had not reached the temperature that it was set on. Now I can just pull up my Nest to check on things and not have to cut my trips short anymore. . Works great and easy set up. Thanks

Quite easy to install and set up. Would have given 5* as I don't see how to use Presence Setting as I was under impression that ECO setting would kick in if we left the house with cell phones. Could not find anything in help docs to set this up. This would be an awesome feature to have as temp would be reduced when no-one is home. All the other functionalities of the Nest are fantastic and I highly recommend it.

Nest Gen 4

I Bought The Nest Thermostat E And Hoped It Would Be As Easy If An Install As Was Mentioned In Every Ad I Had Seen. But After Taking Off My Own Thermostat I Found Out I Infact Needed A C Wire Adapter To Have It Working (my wall only has 2 wires coming out).So I Bought One And Then Found Out I Needed To Install It Right At My Furnace Which Wasn't Indicated Anywhere (I thought it could be connected next to the thermostat itself).So, Instead Of Going That Route I Decided To Use A Power Adapter And Have It Plugged Into My Wall That's Located Near My Thermostat. I Had To Find A 24V Power Supply And Wire It Directly Into The Nest Thermostat Along With The Wires Coming Out Of My Wall.After Trial And Error And ALOT Of Back And Forth From My Breaker Box To My Thermostat I Finally Have It Up And Running. It Works Amazing Once Installed And Running Correctly.

Isn't As Easy For Some As It Is For Others

Bought three Nest thermostats to run the in floor heat in my new extension. Set the first one up after a bit of a challenge I recommend taking a picture or writing down the code you will end up having to enter when the scan does not work. The second device insisted on try to hook up through the first. No way to override and manually do so. Had to uninstall the first devise. Set up the second. The third then used the second to hook up to the network. Went back to the first one and it used one of the other two to hook up. If it works, hooking up through an existing divide is great. If it doesn't work with no easy ability to manually continue it is very exasperating. Thermostats appear to be working fine. Was a bit concerned when we had a power failure and two came back on line quickly and the third took a bit of time to reconnect. So I do recommend them.If not for the few hours of frustration setting them up it would be five star

Does the job. But annoying to set up

Good product, however there is no option to put the fan 24h/24h or ALWAYS ON. 12h is the maximum time it can run without having to restart it again. This is irritating for some type of home that requires having the fan still in use.

Nest Thermostat

Super thermostat but not for radiant heating (heated floor with hot water). As the thermostat reacts to the.5 degreased instead of.1, the heating starts too late and takes a long time (2 hours and more) to heat. The floor is colder too. My old non-programmable thermostat is more responsive than the nest. I'll send him back and reinstall the old man. For other types of heating it must be great.

I am a Pro Nest Installer and have had this installed for about a month now and its just so frustrating to use compared to all the other products that Google(Nest) has released in the past. The outer ring does not turn and relies on Capacitance to register a turn and only on 1 side of the unit... and if your disabled or have dry hands it doesn't pick up a rotation. Then the other side works the same and is for navigating the settings menu and again is true if you have hands that are dry PLUS as many are used too the device doesn't click IN to register a OK... you have to tap the side of the unit again with your fingers... All in all this device is meant to be set up once and never locally touched and controlled purely from the GOOGLE HOME APP which again don't get me started that this is a NEST product but won't work with NEST APP only works with GOOGLE HOME APP ONLY..FRUSTRATING and if this is the way they're heading they need to rethink for model 2 that supports multistage systems!
