Ease Of Use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought the battery operated model was a bit pricey but I found it quite a bit easier and faster to use than the corded version.  It comes with everything you need to start painting. I re-painted all of the crown molding in my home in a fraction of the time of doing it by hand and got a better finish as well.

It's been one week so far with this cordless ultra sprayer. I'm used to spray with a proX17. I paint apartments and houses with latex paint 99% of the time so I bought this cordless sprayer for doors, trims and touch ups. So usually, I have the paint for the walls in my proX17 and the paint for doors/trim in the cordless sprayer. I love this combination! I'm happy with my new toy. I don't plan to ever put any oil-based liquid in it.

Great product. I stepped up to this product to take advantage of all the FF tips I have and the battery..no more cord to get in my way. Solid product and third I have purchased.. I retired the 5 year old 360 sprayer…and Dave my X5 for big projects. The ultra is easy to use and was happy to see convenience related features such as filler adapters, finally can set the gun down and not tip over.  and built-in paint filter that is greatly appreciated. Just a home project guy that likes good tools.

Used twice so far.  Great results. Be prepared to use over twice the paint expected. Very expensive!

Convenient

I have two Graco sprayers.  I just added the Ultra Cordless Sprayer to my DIY tool kit and love it!  It sprays amazingly well.  Easy to use.  Great videos to walk you through setting up and using your sprayer if your new and unsure how to use it.  Deducted one star for clean up.  Clean up does take as much time as my larger sprayer.  I think the design of the gun could have less nooks and crannies, for a lack of better words, to make less spots that paint can get trapped into which requires more time cleaning the gun and accessories.

I bought this sprayer for a small exterior paint job and it saved so much time. I cleaned it exactly like the manual says and the 2nd and 3rd use it started spitting paint after you release the trigger if I can figure out a fix it would be 5 stars

Great possibilities

I've used this gun for about 2 years and had good success with it.  I spray single doors at a time, so it has definitely saved my money on paint over a conventional airless with hoses, I don't worry about dragging a hose against a painted piece, and cleanup is easy.  I got rid of my large airless right away after using this, it was exactly what I needed.  Definitely recommend buying the smaller tip right away if you're doing small pieces like I am.  The downside is the gun is only as good as the service behind it.  I am in the Chicagoland area, and no suppliers carry a replacement pump for this unit.  I imagine users not near a major metro area would have even less support.  If you are counting on reliability like you do on your main airless machine and picking up a replacement pump same day at a local store, you will be very disappointed.  In talking to about 6 stores today, it seems that this gun never caught on with professional users, therefore none of the paint suppliers or spray equipment rebuilders in Chicagoland or an hour outside of Chicago stock the pump.  They can all order it in about 3 days.  Pump durability was about 20-30 gallons, cleaned after about every 1/2 gallon, which is enough for 1 door/frame pair.  I'd previously had availability issues with the paint cup bracket, liners, and filters, so I already keep anything consumable that could break on hand as a backup, but realistically should have just purchased 2 guns after purchasing every part that could break, as it now looks like I should probably keep a pump on hand too because no distributors do.  I do think this unit is professional quality, I love the interchangeability of tips with larger machines, but realistically this unit is not used by professionals and therefore is not supported like professional spray equipment.

Buy 2 of them if are using it for more than hobby

Very convenient for small jobs. A little messy when filling cup multiple times in a row. I appreciate Graco using plastic parts to keep costs down, but it's a double edge sword. The air release cap on the cup lid constantly breaks or gets clogged. The needle housing is easy to remove/replace, but if the 2 outlet valves get stuck, or strip out (which is SUPER easy), the only way to get them out is to pound a flat head screw driver into them and hope you get enough purchase to back them out. The ball cages "don't push them all the way in" on the manual in conjunction with the "torque specs" for plastic parts is unrealistic and confusing, no real way to know if you got it right. Within 4 months of using the gun, maybe sprayed 10 gallons through it, it began to have trouble, where, when priming, water (or paint) leaked out of the needle. There's no solution to that anywhere, no idea why it happened. I owned a sprayer repair business for many years, so i'm competent with instructions, plus i've been a painting contractor for over 20, so i've seen all the iterations of what Graco is trying to do here. I will say, so far, this is the best, most well engineered model yet, but still room for improvement. My suggestion would be to embed metal studs in to the outlet valves to prevent stripping, and make some sort of fool proof indication system so the user knows EXACTLY how far to screw all valves into their respective housings. I really like the motor system, pure genius. I really like the suction system over the old siphon system. I like they finally got rid of the proprietary tip/housing assembly. I like that they partnered with DeWalt, smart. It's easy to use, but having adequate ability to properly clean the sprayer on the job is very rare, and guys often "forget" to clean it out when they get back to the shop, lessening the life of the product.

Good and Bad

I bought this sprayer late November 2024.  Didn't begin using it until January 2025.  Only lasted 3 months.  Good tool for the 3 months it worked.  Warranty claim process is not user friendly.
