Carves up branches perfectly, lasts me a few hours of work (with a backup battery). If I needed to plane any thick trunks it wouldn't suffice, but it's more than enough for what we need it for!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an initial review, as I've only used the saw for one job so far. I've had the 40v, 16" bar for years and was very happy with it. Moving to the 80v with 18" bar has been a dream.

The saw has lots of power, is well balanced, and came out of the box well assembled and ready to go. I had a Beech tree fall across the driveway -- fairly hard wood and about 19" wide at the base -- and the new 80v had it all diced up in about 2 hours. On one battery.

I hope the saw keeps rocking, but so far, so good.

Initial Review -- loving it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you aren't planning on running a tree service, this chainsaw works great.  Cuts through big logs and runs for a decent amount of time on a charge.  You're not going to cut up an entire massive oak tree on a charge with it, but it'll get the job done eventually.  I like not having to wear hearing protection while using it!

Works great for basic stuff

Greenworks tools use the same battery. It cut like butter. I had no problems with the chain tension as others have reported. Maybe they just don't know chainsaws. It ran for almost 2 hours on the smallest battery. I'm older and the time was enough for me. No fumes, pull rope, or gas. Just pop a charged battery in and go.

80V 18" Cordless Chainsaw w/ 2.0Ah Battery

This saw eats trees! I am so happy with the performance and how quiet it is. I cycle through three batteries and never have to stop. The only nitpicking "issue" is the string that holds the oil cap. It is too long/flimsy and is annoying to get back into the oil reservoir. My mother-in-law even took it for a spin and loved it!

Great Chainsaw!!

I have no luck with small engines, they don't just start when I want them too. This saw push a button pull the trigger and cut away, I have cut down and cut up a few big trees already with no problem. Cuts thru 16" /18" pine trees like butter, recharge takes about 20 minutes, and then off to cutting again, very nice would recommend to anyone.

Very nice saw

Although it is a bit heavy due to the battery I would normally give it 5 stars. My only concern is a worry about the future. I have had perfectly good cordless tools become useless because a few years after purchasing them the batteries go bad and the technology has changed and they no longer produce the battery or it becomes an expensive "special order." The same can happen with the charger. 5 or 10 years down the road will I be able to get batteries at a regular price. For comparison I have a small McCulloch 2 cycle saw that is 39 years old and still runs—just gas and oil. However, the Greenworks cordless cuts very well and the battery runs a long time. Very good product.
