This little baby is good performer.  I read a lot of reviews of different makes and models and decided to buy the 16" chain.  I was a little concerned about the 40V, but it has good Ah and says it has enough battery to cut a cord of wood.

So today I cut down a tree with a 10" diameter trunk.  The saw went right through it.  Trimming limbs was a little tricky because the speed of the blade is not as fast as gas, so it hops a bit on a loose or unsecure limb.  Cutting through the trunk was a breeze.

The saw did get caught couple times when I was trimming branches on the compression side.  The saw got stuck and it didn't have enough power to unbind itself.  I had to take a handsaw to release the pinch.  I learned that lesson and the rest of the job was smooth. 

I then leveled the stump to the height of the ground.  This can be a tough and awkward procedure, but the saw cut right through the 12" trunk at the base in one cut.  

The weight of the saw is super light compared to gas.  Also much quieter.
Why didn't I go battery sooner?  I guess I'm stubborn and loved the pull that cord.

Best Battery Powered Saw

This saw is amazing! I certainly can and do recommend it. I have owned gasoline fueled saws in the past and have had to contend with mixing gas and oil, disposing of unused mixture when it became out dated, trying to start a saw that had been unused for a while, and visits to the service center for maintenance. None of that with a Greenworks cordless chainsaw.  Just push a button and it's on. The last tree I cut down was a little over 16 inches in diameter and I had no problem with this saw. It's also a dream to use during the stop and go cutting when bucking. My first Greenworks 16”40 volt cordless saw was lost in a recent flood and I didn't hesitate to buy another.

Very pleased with the Greenworks 40 volt chainsaw.

Mine arrived in two days , took only minutes to assemble the bar, and charged in a half hour! I have cut a few trailer loads of hard maple and cherry firewood and have yet to have to tighten the chain or sharpen it. I see I can get a leaf blower that takes this battery and they sell them without battery and charger which saves a lot! I will buy that next.

Highly recommend this saw!

This is my 4th Greenworks tool and my second chainsaw which, I suspect, says all I need to say about Greenworks.  I have a mower and string trimmer that use the same battery system so there is never a worry about being ready to take on a task.  I bought my brother the chainsaw for Christmas and helped him clear his property with it.  Typical Greenworks traits:  Low noise, no fumes and does the job with no fuss.

A Chain, a Saw, Job Conquered

I bought this saw to have a lighter saw for use at home.  I have a Greenworks 80V saw for farm use some distance away.  Both saws are well worth the money.  
I don't use chainsaws enough to be comfortable with them.  An electric saw is simpler to operate and seems to me to be safer--less noise, no smoke, and you don't start the saw until you have it in position to make the cut.  The batteries have all the capacity that I need and more.  If you plan on doing extended saw work you may want a second battery.

My second Greenworks saw

this chainsaw is perfect for the home use , half a tree came down in the last storm and this saw cut like a dream , smooth running , feels real solid . made a lot of cuts and did not run the battery out . already had bought the g-max 40v pole hedge trimmer so have a battery back up if I need . will be looking at more greenworks tools in the future . thanks

perfect gas chainsaw replacement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Haven't used it much yet but it's powerful enough to cut through a 16" log fairly easily. Not as easily as a good gas chainsaw, but it's convenient

Pretty good

The motor and battery on this unit and overall weight and build indicates a heavy duty unit.  BUT, the chain and chain bar are lightweight and chinzy.  After 15 minutes of cutting the chain flew off the bar.  After reinstalling it and retightening the chain and bar adjustments working ok again.  This is not for heavy duty cutting.  The motor, however, is pretty heavy duty.
