This is a strong sturdy umbrella stand - it is the second one I have bought from Walmart - our umbrellas are the thatch style - each outdoor chair has its own umbrella in our front patio surrounded by lush green plants - its a paradise - umbrellas can bend so you can shade yourself from the sun and as the sun moves you just rotate the umbrella in its stand - you truly can enjoy your outdoors all year -

Great Umbrella stands will bend to block the sun -

The one umbrella stand I had bought a couple years ago was basically a cheap composite that crumbled to pieces since I had bought it (and what a mess it was).
So I chose this one since it different material and decorative.
It's pretty heavy, so I know it will not topple over.
Took a couple try outs to get the right tool to tighten the nut on the underside of the base, but once that's set, the umbrella fits right into it. Very nice item. I believe it was on sale when I bought it too. I like it much better!
