The slant can be a problem. Smooth soled shoes will slide off and my wife has a lot of those. Something had to be done. What we did is put 4 foot long garden stakes between the lower horizontal shoe holder rods. (I'd enclose a picture, but our stakes are filthy -- I will replace them at a later date -- they solve the problem but I don't want anyone to think that the manufacturer would use this kind of material). That prevented the shoes from sliding forward. We also put the lower horizontal rod towards the wall, partly to hide the stakes and partly to use the floor space for boots.

The nice feature is the expansion. It does go out to 45 inches (which is how we use it. The small difficulty with that is that you can't expand it to any length but 45 inches.

It's sturdy and nice looking. My wife likes the clean area it creates. As is, it is best for shoes about sizes 8 to 10 male and 7 to 10 for a female. Heels work best for a female's shoes.

Functional for the Price

Basic but functional, but not made for kids' shoes... must be big-enough adult shoes. Love that I don't have to wipe down much although it won't be great for boots.
