Beautiful knife block

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The knifes are great, sharp and easy to use with the comfortable handle. My only complaint is after putting them in the dishwasher, the knifes started having rust marks on them. Very disappointing. For that reason I have it an average review.

Overall good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 2nd set of Henckel's International knives.  After reading over many of the negative comments in reviews across the Web, I opted to purchase this set anyway since I really enjoyed the modern aesthetic in the value from this 20P set. For the record I am not a professional chef, but I have spent many years working in the restaurant industry  To include large amounts of prep and back of house operations. I think for the price, your getting a good value, But if you are expecting a pro grade, world renowned experience at this price point you need to spend more on a different set.  For what they are, there plenty sharp handle well enough and for standard kitchen work.



My main concern is going to be the potential for rust. Right out the box about 1/3 of the pieces had rust on them. See pictures for an example. Since these are the International version, they are not Truly "German-made", but rather Chinese made.  Again like I mentioned before, you get what you pay for...and I can only assume poor warehouse/retail storage/or shipping conditions are responsible. The only other possible explainatjon is poor quality steel, which I want to say is most likely not it,, but based on the amount if reviews out there with similar problems...warrants considering. 



From an improvement perspective, I would have liked to have seen a higher quality pair of kitchen sheers that separate into individual pieces for easier and better cleaning, I do think the self sharpening block is on the gimmicky side of things, is not a replacement for a dedicated knife sharpener or block.  Yes the block is big, but it is a 20 piece set so yeah, however they could have slipped down a little so that it takes up less counter space.
