I just got this set for Christmas. It's elegant and it works perfectly. The knives are cut every like butter! They are easy to grab and it's the best set of knives I've own. The materials are high quality.

The wood block looks beautiful sitting on my counter...note: it does take up a fair amount of space, so, measure your counter! I love the self-sharpening feature as well.

Beautiful. Functional. Affordable.

When I unboxed this set, I washed all of the knives in warm soapy water, but when I placed them in their respective slots, I noticed some staining on the handles. I was going to try to exchange the set in the hopes that the next set wouldn't have the “stains.” Then I decided to rewatch and throughly - thoroughly- dry the handles.  POOF! The “stains” are gone!!!

Great knife set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't like that the knives must go in their specific spots, but knives aren't specially labeled and there's no separate key to show which knife is which, other than the picture on the box so unless I cut up the box, which I don't want to do in case I need to return them, I make my own cheat sheet, which seems silly as a consumer to need to do just to use the product, I will have no idea if I'm putting them in the correct spots. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but the instructions state to put them in their respective spots so they are kept sharp but the correct sharpening stones. 

The box says self-sharpening; the instructions state they're not self-sharpening-huh?!?! Either they are or they aren't. Talk about false, deceptive advertising. The block is meant to keep knives sharp, not sharpen knives, as they are clearly labeled. 

They also recommend hand washing only. REALLY?? Who has time, or the desire to hand wash their dishes… not a busy parent, that's for sure.  Definitely a little disappointed with this purchase than our last Henckel knives :-(

Mom of boys

Bought a set of these a few months ago and while I love the look and feel of the knives, I am extremely disappointed in the fact that they have started to rust. For the price of these knives, I honestly won't be buying Henckel again.
