We got this to try out, because our AC has been on the fritz for a while now. While it doesn't ‘condition air', it does make it cooler and more manageable during these past few extreme heat days. Refilling the water tank is not a tedious task, and my kitten seems to enjoy the air coming out. And really…isn't that all that really matters…lol…(pet parents get it!) 
I will say, I was under the impression there was a nightmode, in terms of noise level, but I guess I was mistaken. The noise level is pretty akin to an AC. But don't let that turn you off, it is a wonderful and more environmentally friendly machine than an AC, and still cools a great deal!
