When my 41 started getting flaky, I picked up a 33S on clearance at Walmart. I was pleased to find it approved for FE and PE exams, and so is the 35S.
I saw a review somewhere else regarding the displays. The 35S is definitely clearer, because the pixels are spread out -- the decimal point is easier to find, etc.
The keys on the 35S feel much better than on the 33S, the Enter key is back where it belongs, and the rows are straight instead of the weird chevron of the 33S -- What were they thinking?
Still checking it out, the 35S has a cool way to quickly program a repetitive calculation. I am looking forward to transferring my 41 programs to the 35S.

Big step up from the HP 33S

As a lover of classic HP calculators, this is a nice machine, almost (but not quite) the feel of the classic HP41s and earlier HP calculators.  Yes, RPN (the true way!).  I have probably 50 or more functional classic HP calculators, I'm not entirely sure why I purchased this one, I am horribly under-using it, so don't take my word for your use, much better reviews of the machine are out on the 'net.  But...I love the feel of the keyboard, and I love the fact that there's still a good RPN calculator out there.

I like it.

RPN calculators are hard to come by any more, but this one is just perfect. I actually am replacing my HP50g (~$150) with this one. For one, the 50g died after only 5 years and I didn't want to spend another $150 to replace it for the same thing to happen again. Hopefully this one lasts a lot longer. My TI's from H.S. still work 15 years later. But since then I have grown accustomed to RPN and don't want to go back. Glad I found this one for only $50 at Walmart ($60+ at other stores). Buttons feel nice. Calculator also comes with a slide in carrying case. So far so good.

RPN!!!

HP has a long tradition of building outstanding scientific calculators. The HP 35S continues that tradition. The operating system that controls calculator modes and menus is intuitive. The RPN system for evaluating mathematical expressions is just unbeatable. It is much faster than algebraic systems. It is much less prone to errors. The calculator is rugged, sleek and attractive to boot. This is a great scientific calculator for anyone who does not need graphing capabilities. No engineer should be without an HP calculator.

HP calculators are great for scientists.

I bought the HP 35s because it is one of two HP calculators allowed in an NCEES test. It is a great little calculator for its compact size and is extremely functional. It is the first HP calculator I've had that has a hyperbolic cosine button, really easy to calculate a catenary, no more fiddling with the eⁿ stuff, just go straight to cosh or acosh (I'm getting spoiled). It's not going to replace my old HP 48gx, but it is a great new tool in my engineering toolbox.

The HP 35s is a great little calculator

So far, so good.  I bought it to replace my last HP RPN calculator, which was over 30 years old!  I still have to learn more of the features, but I like that it has been an intuitive transition, so far.

Sticking with HP

Still miss my HP-15C from my college days, but happy that HP still makes calculators.  This one has everything I need and I'm happy to have it.  Can't live without RPN!

Just say NO to the equal sign. Once you use RPN, you'll never look back. 
If you want a nominal orbital insertion, use the HP 35s!! The alternative is extremely embarrassing.
And don't get me started on a poorly designed electrodynamic tether.

HP 35s rocks!!!!

HP is a dependable brand.  RPN is much easier for more complex calculations  than algebraic input. The feel and touch of the buttons truly shows a robust build quality.

Excellent Value

Easy to use if. Direct switch with only a few changes from the older 15c RPN units. It is just hard to see the display. Especially seeing the difference between commas and decimal point is hard.

Functional, but not easy to read

The reason I gave it two stars is because it doesn't come with the premium case as the first reissues did in 2008. It comes with a cheap sleeve, not the original zippered case. Overall the calculator is so survey friendly, especially when you program it. I've been owning HP calculators since the 32s. Since my 35 was stolen from my truck I needed a replacement and got this one thinking it came with the zippered case. It just came with an awesome calculator and a cheap sleeve. If you're looking to replace your lost or stolen 35, expect to get a real good calculator and a cheap sleeve and not the zippered one.
